"Called in as a last minute option, as the kid was hungry. Did call and book a table just in case. Which is a good job as the first thing we were asked is have you booked? not sure why as there weren 't anymore than 6 or 7 tables the entire time we were there. The food was okay, kind of what you 'd expect from a pub nothing special. We had: Garlic pizza bread to nibble, asked for no cheese or tomato as the kid isn 't a fan.... We must of somehow asked for extra extra garlic as what we got was a small (7 max circle of overcooked dough with so much garlic I never have to fear vampires again. Pork Belly, to which the wife said was nice but the red cabbage with cinnamon was more cinnamon with red cabbage and the mash potato needs to be cut with a knife. The sauce was delicious apparently though. Steak pie, as you 'd expect from a low end pub meal, nothing spectacular. The star of the show SHOULD have been the triple cooked chips....... Skin on chips would describe them best. For me, a triple cooked chip is light and fluffy with a crisp outer, not a soggy skin on chip. Kind had buttermilk chicken breast and chips (which were the same as my triple cooked chips so..... .... To describe the chicken more accurately go and Google bird 's-eye chicken fingers. Desserts were okay. Sticky toffee with custard. Orange brownie with ice cream, kids brownie and ice cream (same as the orange brownie . Overall super disappointed with the food, over £70 for low end pub food in my opinion. I would have let the waitress know this IF they could have been bothered with a check back to see how we were getting on. To be honest l, any level of service would have been appreciated, no check back, took an age to order (did get an apology at the start for that ages to clear after each course and took the Micheal trying to order puddings, to the point I got sick of them wiling tables around us, and asked to order to which I recieved yep, bear with me . Sorry I 've already waiting 10 minutes to order and now you want me to wait until its convenient for you? Poor. We left a tip, purely because the kid made a mess and was running around like a little...... But then again when he 's sat waiting for an age for stuff to come and be cleared who can blame him? Overall, really really poor and not what it used to be."

"We booked a table of 4 here at the end of September to celebrate my mums 81ST Birthday. She and others had previously had lovely meals and service from the chef. Well what had happened this day? It was a Saturday and we expected it to be busy. There was a function going on too. When we turned up at 12:30pm for our pre booked table no one greeted us. We walked up to the two very sad looking young ladies. Still nothing no hello, no are you ok? I then told them that we had a table for 4 booked. We were moved to our table. We looked like we had put them out! Anyway it just got worse! Whilst stood to order a first round of drinks, the bar man just ignored us! Another guy from a table spoke to him and got served? We then ordered and told most of the beer wasn’t available awaiting a delivery? No apology. Honestly, we eat out every week and it just simply isn’t good enough. When we were served our food it was plonked on the table, no service with a smile! The food itself was large portions we had scampi, beef pies and fish pie. The fish pie had minimal fish and a load of rich cheese mash not good. The beef pie was over salted. Did raise this and got this deleted from payment. We never once were asked how are meals were during the meal. Nor were we able to ask to order drinks from the table we had to order at the bar which took ages. Not good enough again when at a ‘restaurant’. All in all we were disappointed and would not recommend. It is a real shame and had considered a large family meet there later in the year but we won’t be risking heere again. Please sort out your staff and train them !"

"I had heard great things about this restaurant and my partner had visited before and had a positive experience. So, I decided to take her there for a birthday breakfast on Sunday, October 15th, 2023. When we arrived, we were initially told there were no tables available, but another staff member informed us that there was room in the outdoor tent-like facility. Once we were seated, we were told that we only had the table until 12:30. We didn't mind since we were only having breakfast and it was around 11:15 at that time. However, we waited 25 minutes without anyone taking our drinks order, and noticed that other tables were experiencing similar delays. Our table was dirty and a more experienced staff member was questioning a young waitress about why the tables were not cleaned. The waitress said she didn't have a cloth, so she didn't clean them. We ordered our food and drinks to avoid further waiting as our table was needed at 12:30. We asked for extra bacon and feta with one of the dishes, but it didn't arrive. When we brought this up to the waitress, she seemed confused and walked away without explanation. We had three dishes ordered, all of which were now cold on the table. I spoke to another waitress in the main building and explained the situation. She apologized and said the extras were being cooked. However, when the extras finally arrived, the rest of the meal was cold and inedible. The additional dish of bacon and feta finally came, and the other meals were taken away to be reheated. At the end of the meal, we were told the cost of the extra ingredients would be removed from our bill, but when we checked, we had been charged for everything. The waitress seemed panicked and unsure of what to do when we pointed this out. We ended up paying the total bill and leaving. This experience was disappointing and frustrating. I have worked in hospitality for over 10 years and understand the challenges in the industry. It was clear that the young waitress needed more training and mentoring before being left to manage tables on her own. This experience has deterred me from returning in the future."
