"Excellent lunch at such a great price. At around €18 you have a set 5 course meal in a comfortable restaurant which is brightly decorated in a red grey theme. Do note that there is no choice of food, apart from the desert. The service was excellent and the hostess was very attentive looked after our guide dog wonderfully. We were served homemade potato salad with tuna sweetcorn pasta. A generous portion was given to us on a good sized serving plate. This was followed by a delicious terrine. We had cassoulet with large, coarse meaty sausages. A varied cheese board followed with both hard soft cheeses. There were 5 desert choices. We went for the chocolate mousse fresh peach tart. A lovely meal that set us up nicely for a walk along the nearby Thouet river afterwards. This restaurant is definitely worth a detour or in our case, a destination in it's own right Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Quiet, Great value"

5 course meal in true French style loved it. GF is not catered for in this style of meal, it’s a set menu but rang each day and we waited until the main course was gluten free(only 1 day) and it was 100% worth the wait. We also took GF bread and crackers.

"Au Bon Acceuil in French means 'To a Good Reception '. When I walked in off the street to see if it was possible to book a table for two for Sunday lunch, the reception was negative. From what I could see, it looks a nice place with the menu given in English as well as French. There were good kitchen smells on the air, but that is as close as I 've got to sampling anything.! The location is of great historic interest, photogrenic and picturesque. A large eleventh century church (recently restored) has great presence but (rather like the restaurant) you can 't actually get inside it unless you can find someone local who has a key! The church is surrounded by the ruins of an even older convent and an early medieval footbridge for carts and cattle still exists, spanning the river, and you can walk across it. But watch out for the uneven, ancient stones. The area just outside the little village is seriously blighted by wind turbines but they are not so apparent when you are in the village and near the church and the ruins, not to mention that very tempting little bilingual restaurant known as 'Au Bon Acceuil '. Maybe one day it will be possible to get in. They are clearly very popular with their local clients and other people from nearby but I would suggest they seriously consider serving morning coffee and afternoon tea for grateful tourists passing through. Just a thought, 'Au Bon Acceuil '.."
