"I had dinner on Saturday night in drury lane barrafina with a friend. I had great hopes when her sister restaurant in soho has a Michelin star and the menu on paper is identical. therefore the disappointment was much greater than the courts finally arrived. apart from well cooked slitt shoe (catch of the day), each dish had a mistake with it. tomaten were cold refrigerator, which I could not imagine that someone at place that does not serve kfc or burger king level. Jamon croquettes were a crazy one, as there was hardly any jamon in it and strangely cloged, we had to get away on a teller. that says a lot, that parts are not huge. everything had to be seasoned. Impossible to go wrong with anything you order at Barrafina, everything is so absolutely tasty and the staff is happy and fun. The tortilla is a must order as well as their croquettes.

can not book, the line was an hour. the staff was excellent to ensure that we had enough wein while we wait. the food/experience is as good as you can hope everywhere in the world. personal attentive and helpful, relaxed and pleasant. would not recommend to come here with much more than a few. no groups. However, they have a private dining room (for groups) that I would like to know about the booking! g

wonderful tapas restaurant near the monastery garden. no bookings available for this restaurant and even though the waiting queue can look long, people tend to end eating around the same time so that we sit very quickly. the food was fresh and delicious. the ochsenzunge was beautiful and the otopus fulfilled our expectations. the great surprise was the aubergine on the toast we had at the end, and I would recommend it very much, such a wonderful and refreshing aroma explosion.

At a recent business event, I discovered that working nomenclature has moved on somewhat from what I am used to. Instead of “unpacking” or “deconstructing” a complicated sounding but otherwise fairly ordinary word (no doubt in the belief that it makes the speaker more sophisticated), things have advanced. Now the word is “decomposing”. An interesting turn of phase, as I often think that those who are living rather sedentary lives glued to the television effect rather vapid stares. With little stimulation for their minds, I can almost picture the scene as the TV turns their brains to mush.

I’m ashamed to say that Barrafina has passed me by till now. Not deliberately, I’ve intended to go for a while, but I don’t like queues and if I’m honest I generally prefer sitting at a table to sitting at a bar. So, on occasions when the queues at the two better established outlets have been reasonable, I’ve passed on the opportunity and hoped that perhaps my waistline will benefit a bit. Being asked to review Barrafina on Dury Lane, the latest of the group was enough of an incentive to accept I might need to queue (which I didn’t) and I asked The-Hedonist, a long time fan both of Barrafina and Quo Vadis, along for the ride. Isn 't it funny, how life can suddenly take a wrong turn? All the plans became a blow of a dust and you are left unknowing what to do or what is ahead. Then there are some people that wants to ruin your life for some unknown selfish reasons. Along the way, you lose some friends as well, that used to be your so called best friends . When life hits your hard, it may not be easy to keep your head above the water. The storm is rough, but it does not last forever. After a storm comes a rainbow, one would say one would become stronger afterward. But what I would say is fake being strong till you make it. It 's the only way not to drown.

First thing is that this place is not for more than 2 person. The reason is two fold: one tapa is small in size, two they literally only have bar chairs and small tables outside. (There seems to be larger seating place in the basement but not open to use at lunch time) We were a group of four and we eventually made it work by pulling two tables outside together in a rainy autumn day. Foodwise it's above average. A bit on the heavy side because of the heavy cream and butter in the rice and mashed potato, but you know who will say no to comfort food on Sunday? The grilled fish was deliciously! Crispy outside and tender inside, perfect! The Arroz negro is also delicious. Creamy and...read more

"The decor of the restaurant is really lovely. We were greeted as soon as we arrived. We placed our orders quite briskly. We received complimentary bread and olives, which was a nice touch. Our Bruchetta starter arrived a whole hour after we arrived, which was disappointing and far too long to wait for a cold and easy starter. The menu did not specify that the prawns on one of the bruschettas were raw! The waiter said service was slow because they were busy with Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Clearly not prioritising paying customers, who pay a 12.5% service charge, unlike online customers. Eventually, our main courses arrived. My pasta was only just cooked, so close to being undercooked and hard. They ran out of ricotta and replaced it with the tiniest amount of cheese so I asked for some more. Since ricotta was supposed to be the main ingredient of the dish. The tuna steak was lovely, and the veal could have done with a thinner breadcrumb batter. The sides, chips and zucchini, were £4.50 and very small portions for such a cheap side. So that was slightly disappointing. Overall, the pinot grigio white wine was very drinkable, and they brought tap water when we asked for it. And the whole staff were very polite. It was a shame the service was so slow, and the food could have been better for the price that it was. We also felt it was overpriced for the location it was, zone 2 London and not in the West End."
