"Actually our second visit we went first on our drive down to the Dordogne, loved it so much, made sure we went again on our way back to Vendee. Despite a hitch with the booking, the lunch was again absolutely incredible. Complimentary amuse-bouches ..seared tuna or a creme brûlée made with foie gras sounds weird, but was delicious, so clever. Then came another complimentary taster, a melon sorbet with few strips of raw or cured beef, and a bit of meat sauce. Again, sounds strange, but surprisingly tasty. I had the steak, my wife had the Tuna Rossini (again, a new taste for us), both were simply inspired and beautifully cooked. But it was the dessert which blew my mind a chocolate thing which if I described would lose it's magic just heavenly, and I thin the best pud I have ever tasted. We have some foody friends we will be sending here, and will return to stay the night, simply to try the food again. I know there are many star reviews here, and I cannot stress how well deserved they are. The Chef is clearly passionate, and was keen to make sure we were happy. Had a meal here with friends who frequent the restaurant and it did not disappoint. The scallops to start were amazing as was the mini desserts.

We'd heard excellent reviews of Le Lucullus, and it definitely earned those we had a sensational lunch in August! It's an experience for serious foodies, fantastically fresh ingredients, delicious combinations and excellent service attentive without being intrusive. Very highly recommended for a special...occasion

I'm not sure we could praise Le Lucullus more the menu is fantastic, interesting and varied with something for everyone, the service is attentive, friendly and welcoming without being intrusive, and for the quality and standard, it is reasonably priced. Every visit this...was our third is a treat and an event, definitely very highly recommended!

We enjoyed every mouthful. This is fine dining at it's best, we had langustine and foie gras starters, lamb cutlets roasted turbot and mixed mint and chocolate dessert all extremely delicious. We spoke briefly to the chef and he apologised if any dish was not...up to standard due to the degree heatwave if this was sub standard god knows what the standards are here. The food was wonderful as was the ambience, enjoyed by my wife and two friends (for whom this was a first visit). For the first time ever though, I have two small criticisms. I had to ask twice for the carafe of water to be...filled, and also had to request more bread to mop up the delicious sauces. As I said, small criticisms. The wines we chose were great, and so good to find an organic Chinon perfect. Shall we visit again, of course.

Booked the restaurant on an overnight stop on the way home from the south. Had memories of one of the best meals of our lives some years before. We weren’t disappointed. Fabulous amuse bouches of tiny fried eggs and foie brûlées, a wonderful savoury...sorbet, excellent starters of spidercrab cake and monkfish, delicious mains of duck and lamb with an excellent chinon recommended to us by the waitress. A lovely rich chocolate tart to finish and a lovely coffee and Get to round off a great meal. Still rocking it Lucullus. Well done!

Having been told this was the best place to dine in Montmorillon we looked forward to eating here. Sadly it did not live up to expectations. Our amuse bouche was a sweet green sorbet which instantly melted in the heat of the courtyard dining area....The lamb rack was well cooked and tender but had not been trimmed of sinew, and the accompanying petit pois were old and tired and not the sweet young peas they should have been. Dessert was better but some pieces of the rhubarb were uncooked and therefore stringy. All in all it wasn’t great. Ver carta

Another visit to Le Lucullus for my wife and I. As before, we chose the set vegetarian menu. The result: six courses of imaginative, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented excellence, served with charm and precision by an attentive team. I have no idea how they produce...this menu for only Even if I had the skill, I don't see how I could cook food to this standard and expect to make a profit. The wine list is great and starts at about per bottle. There are some excellent wines in the range, that I have seen at in London. Having eaten at hundreds of excellent establishments across four continents, Le Lucullus remains my absolute favourite restaurant. https

This was my father's favourite. We visited with friends to mark his recent passing. We were extremely disappointed. It seems the chef of Lucullus had also died and the replacement IMO is not in the same class. I skipped appetisers and had carre d'agneau. It...was tough and sinewy to the point that I had to ask for another, sharper knife. My mother had red snapper she reported it as OK She had a selection of desserts giant portions of different things, rather than little tastes as before. The cheeseboard was very disappointing tiny slivers of not very appealing selection. Six goat and only three cow.
