"Awful. To clarify, drinks were great, starters great and steaks cooked perfectly. Overall experience =terrible. Starter oysters for him, tomato mozzarella salad for her. Salad delivered to table 5 mins before oysters. Why? Both cold starters? Main two fillets, chips and onion rings. Steaks beautiful and delicious. No sides ever arrived. Drinks beer, Prosecco and cocktail all fine. Bill it charged for sides. Waitress asked when delivering bill if we wanted anything else and when we said “no” she said “thank goodness”! We complained on paying bill about lack of service and lack of sides. 10% off bill. Accepted but terribly disappointed as was our 7year Ann dinner. £110 for awful experience."

Very expensive considering I ordered a starter, main and chips and came home hungry.

Disappointing. Our steaks were very dry/sawdust and chips also. We returned them and were offered a partial refund. We noticed another table had a similar experience maybe just an off night.

The service was overstretched and slow, they didn’t hear our orders correctly, the food wasn’t worth the prices. For a birthday meal costing over £350 for 5 people, this was pretty disappointing. Definitely won’t be back. Ver carta

Place was nice. Service was friendly however Drinks didn’t get delivered until starters were finished!! The burger didn’t come as the menu stated and the medium steak came rare. Starters and sides were good but overall very disappointed.

Always a great steak at Chop House. The sides are variable and inconsistent in quality, but that's not why you eat there. The service was a bit slow the last time we visited, but it that appeared to be a staffing issue. Service was super friendly nonetheless.

Well cooked and flavorful steak and lobster. Well crafted mixed drinks, Side vegetables were lacking, however. Broccoli was perfectly al dente, but the chili-lime dressing was, boring and bland. Overall, a pleasant experience and would return given the opportunity Ver carta

Amazing Sunday lunch experience. We had the chateaubriand sharing platter and I have quite severe IBS with lots of intolerances that the restaurant did not hesitate to accommodate. I’ve eaten across many restaurants in the UK and this was by far my favourite experience, not only because of their willingness to support my intolerances but because the food was 5*.. perfect Sunday evening here!

Visiting Scotland we wanted a nice meal out in which we decided on Chop as they had a tomahawk on the menu perfect for sharing. Once we got there and ordered they informed us there was no tomahawk, we understood all though disappointed. The waitress was kind but service was slow, many tables getting their food before us. Portions were fair and food was good. Wish we had the opportunity to try the tomahawk.

"new kapitel has caught my attention after I was on top ten on trip advisor only months after the opening in the oktober last year. that and the fact that it is open for my early january birthday, made it the perfect place to celebrate to become a little older. I was with the man and his family. the man is quite used to my taste and good to the kind of kitchen that would appeal to me for a special occasion; his family not so much and I was filled with shame as his mother scornful went through the menu trying to find something she would enjoy. I've eaten with the family of the man, and I know they enjoy eating, so I think it's a failure of the menu that it is not accessible. the benming always blooming and garnish can appeal to some, but for others it is overcomplicated and it is necessary to find a balance between the two. we start with the starters and I go for venison sour wort pithvier. the venison was underheated and incredibly dry, to the happiness the sourded a little moisturizing and so saved the whole dish, but the aromen were quite not clear, except the garnitur of plastered mushrooms I thoroughly enjoyed. for the largest part we chose a fish dish for our main,- sea trout, smoked muddles, petersilien and coast herbs. where the starter fell, the main recording is getting back. the dish is rich and creamy, and each element adds the complexity of the taste as a whole, without disturbing. the concept is now an old one, and it would be deceptive if it had not worked, as it would essentially pay with this place. I enjoyed my meal in new chapter, although I do not agree with it is stellar status under the hierarchy of edinburgh eateries. it is top ten position is just a flash in the pan of hot popularity, and in time it will be plated in the upper half of the middle stage where it belongs. and that is where it belongs, the dishes can be plated with a michelin star in understood, and the venue and the supporting media has the clean lines and empty slate look of fine but eat the team has a long gone to go if that is their real aim. at the end, although it was a beautiful meal, and cheap (at the moment I would not be surprised to see their prices slowly rise) and the man’s mother found something they enjoyed and that is the most important."
