"only one night staying here with my man and child, in a last minute booking late in summer holidays. wow, we would not have asked. our family room was super, immaculately clean and one of the most beautiful in which we have ever stayed! we also ate in the evening in the pub and the selection of available foods and the quality of food was excellent. the breakfast was one if not the best we ever had and we found all the staff fantastic, the customer service we received during our stay was second-no. so a beautiful place, I can't recommend it enough. Now we know where they are, we will certainly make visits again. many thanks for a fantastic stay"

"Lovely setting and nice staff. The food was excellent but be careful what you order! We had two of the pasta dishes which were lovely but overpriced and poor value for money (essentially it worked out at £3 a mouthful! . It’s a shame because we were really excited to eat here and seeing the pizza and fish that came out for other tables at pretty much the same price point we definitely just chose wrong! We were also the one of the first tables in for the lunch sitting and though I totally understand the small plates style of dining where your food just comes when it’s ready BUT it did feel like ours was rushed through (we hadn’t finished one before the others arrived and then struggled to find room on the table . Without meaning to at all we were practically in and out the place in half an hour great service but sometimes when you’re spending £70 on lunch you at least want the experience to last! try and read your tables!"

"the black vyon found on the way back from a day, totally thrilled by him, first impression was the beautiful atmosphere at the place, and how friendly and pleasant the staff was. eating was something to see, it was all expected and then we were both impressed by exactly how good it was eating. small details, the waitress was polite, well presented, but warm and friendly, nothing was too much troubled, she used a tease for the teller and wore her right (I hate to see the fingers of the people in my eating. the price was more than reasonable for what was delivered, a great thank you to all in the black ****, we will return again."

"Excellent light lunch. Ciabatta with ham and cheese and fish cakes both hot and tasty. Good choice of draught beers and a G&T served correctly in a branded glass. Prompt friendly service. Very attractive and atmospheric interior with lots of different seating areas. Limited parking outside but easily found roadside in the village. Great alternative to the crowded honeypot pubs in the area."
