"Visited Oct 2023. Under new Management/Ownership. Very enthusiastic and friendly staff, pleased to discuss dietary requirements (Lactose allergic). Very helpful with helping Menu choices I had the large Haddock cooked to order and chips, my Partner chose Chicken and chips. Fish and chips scored 9/10, fresh, tasty and delicious! Sadly the chicken was *very* overcooked. Had we had more time it would have been sent back, but we were already late for an event a long way out of area. Dietary restrictions: Staff very aware of various dietary requirements."

"I have been a regular customer at this restaurant for years and have always enjoyed their coffee served in cups. However, today I decided to get a takeout order as we were in a hurry. Unfortunately, I ended up waiting 25 minutes for a latte and a hot chocolate. The real disappointment was the size of the latte, which came in an 8-ounce cup (just 235 ml of liquid) for £3.40. I was relieved that I didn't opt for the chai latte at £3.80! If I had known the cup size beforehand, I wouldn't have bothered ordering. Most places that offer takeaway hot drinks usually serve them in a minimum 12-ounce cup. I think I'll bring my own flask next time."

"Orderd fruit scone and cheese scone when they arrived they were the thinnest scones we have ever seen at £3.75 and £3.95 each trying to cut them in half my fruit scone broke into 3 pieces my wife’s cheese scone was so thin each half had to be folded in half to eat it , they were HOT not warm butter disappeared in a second obviously had been microwaved to death , a hot scone normally means a stale scone , if you must serve hot scones they should always be heated in a oven and warmed not nuked to death , as we paid at the till my wife complained and was told we should have asked for them cold we weren’t given the choice when we ordered them you will be aware of recent other complaints regarding microwaved scones that has obviously not been addressed we will also not be returning"

"My daughter was having a small catered wedding under a marquee in their garden on Friday the 18th September 2020. The wind strengthened in the afternoon and destroyed everything. Utter disbelief. They had booked the Masons Arms the following year so they could invite all...the family and friends to celebrate their first anniversary with no COVID. Suffice to say they were are only hope as they do have a very nice back room, large enough to cater for 30 people. After checking the regulations and found they could host the wedding their response was incredible! They replaced a door and set up all the necessary protocols to protect all the guests and customers. They allowed us to bring our caterers food and helped us set up. We completely decorated the room that night. Their commitment to the special day was unbelievable. They were friendly and accommodating at all times. The Masons is a brilliant pub and the atmosphere is always first class. My biggest compliment is to Gareth, Mark and their whole team exceptional. Thank you. Father of the Bride"

"We made a reservation for a table for two at this restaurant for a birthday meal. I had recommended the Inn before, as our previous experiences had been good, but unfortunately, this visit was not up to par. When we arrived, the restaurant was almost empty, with only one other table occupied. We were seated at the back, away from the main part of the pub, which limited our interaction with the atmosphere. Both of us had initially ordered fish for our main course, but were told that it was not available. We tried to choose different dishes, but were informed that this was not possible. My friend, who is a vegetarian, was really looking forward to the fish dish, so he eventually settled for the cod loin from the Christmas menu. However, it turned out to be disappointingly dry and lacking the expected butter sauce. My own main course was passable, but nothing remarkable. Even the prawn starter seemed overcooked and burnt. The lack of atmosphere and feeling out of place further added to our disappointment."
