"Absolutely disappointed beyond belief. Why even bother opening and advertising that they do food? We really should have walked straight back out the door upon entering. But we had read reviews and really wanted to try this place. The staff were disinterested. Pointed to a table where we were to sit for our evening meal. We were given what can only be described as filthy sticky pieces of paper that were supposed to represent a menu. The table was dirty and sticky with drink stains. Nevertheless we proceeded to order 3 main meals. Over an hour later we still had no food and not once did anyone come over to the table to explain why. The place was by no means busy. There were 4 tables with customers! After approximately an hour and 10 minutes we asked if there was a time that we could expect our food to be ready. Bearing in mind our order was for baby back ribs, a steak burger and a chicken skewer. So not overly complicated. We were told that there was only 1 chef working!. And that the manageress would go and check for us. She returned to say that food would be ready in 5 minutes. Approximately 10 minutes later the baby ribs and steak burger arrived. We had to wait a further 5 minutes for the chicken skewer meal. When it did arrive the chicken was cold and absolutely cremated. So much so that the chicken itself had started to disintegrate and a powder of charcoal remains were on the plate. Absolutely disgusting and inedible. Our entire party left all the food and we went to the bar to pay and left. Disgusted, disappointed, disillusioned and would NEVER RETURN"

"The impressive driveway leads to a stunning Georgian mansion that will definitely leave a lasting impression. Don't be deceived by the car park, as the best is yet to come! The mansion, built in 1722, is surrounded by 312 acres of picturesque parkland with lakes, situated on the River Uck. There is also a charming 13th century church, St Margaret the Queen, and a local cricket club on the grounds. Inside the church, you will find beautiful stained glass windows to admire. The rooms may not all be as spacious as expected, but they are airy and comfortable, some even with balconies. The suites, as seen in the brochure, are luxurious and spacious. Regardless of the room size, the grand staircases will make you feel like royalty. The staff are welcoming, helpful, and friendly. The Orangery and Fine Dining Room offer excellent food, amazing wines, and delectable desserts. Breakfast is buffet-style with a good selection to suit every taste. Guests can also enjoy the small gym, sauna, and spa. The ambiance of a bygone era, leisurely walks, delicious food, and gorgeous surroundings create a special experience. Whether you are looking for a dining experience, afternoon tea, short break, or wedding venue, this is the perfect place. The mansion is also conveniently located near other local attractions. "This was my 3rd visit post lockdown and the experience was as consistent as ever. From the first greeting at the door, to the young waiters, the service is seamless and understated so you can just enjoy your dinner and conversation. Never feel rushed or by the same token, ignored. Quality of food is outstanding every visit. Price is reasonable and never questionable. Joined by friends from out of area who are seasoned travellers/foodies they were highly impressed too. Can always recommend with confidence!"

"We stopped off at Blackboys Inn on our way home. We didn't book, luckily they had a table to seat four of us on a busy Sunday afternoon. The staff were pleasant and and accommodating. We had the smoked fishcake with fries, fried loin of cod with pesto and a duo of sausages, creamed potato and seasonal greens and gravy. The ladies toilets were very clean. The men's toilets smelt, our table was near the door. I've given 5 stars for the service and the food. Would definitely go back and not sit anywhere near the toilets."

"A very warm open looking place people sitting outside having a few evening drinks, enter into the bar area and to the right, the dining area which is spacious. Great service from a friendly young lady. Lots to choose from on the menu. I had prawn with garlic and chilli to start was ok but didn't taste and chilli I must admit, and then I had chicken, bacon and avo salad. The chicken was char grilled by the looks of it, and sometimes was bitter tasting (a few burnt bits on it) and a bit dry from over cooking I found. My sister had a very delicious salmon and my hubby and brother in law had the steak pie, which was very filling and quite tasty they said. It's a pleasant place to pop in to have a pleasant evening offering sometimes live bands on certain evenings."
