I hadn't visited Haxnbauer in a while, but decided to return to downtown Munich during a recent visit. The restaurant's dark wood decor and traditional Bavarian ambiance remained unchanged, which we found pleasant and enjoyed. However, we were disappointed by the service. The pork knuckle was served quickly, as it was pre-cooked and only briefly reheated. We tried veal, pork knuckle, and some liver cheese. Unfortunately, the liver cheese was served last without asking our preference, and it was too spicy for our taste.
