Always a good experience here. Friendly staff, excellent food, good beer, lovely garden. I definitely recommend their carvery had it many times and I've never been disappointed or gone away still hungry

Lovely and welcoming owners. Had the steak with peppercorn sauce and chunky chips. Highly recommended. Place is covid secured and felt really clean. Thank you for making me feel welcome as I generally dislike pubs.

on Saturday, May 14th, for my school assembly. I haven't been here since I was a kid. it is a beautiful inn. terrace area / garden was great. the staff was nice and helpful. had a great day. will definitely recommend to family and friends. thank you for making me such a joy x

First visit today and very impressed with both the food and the service, excellent on both counts. Dog was welcomed and choice of food from carvery to specials quite extensive. The only shame is that we live too far from it to make it a regular place to visit, but will definitely be back.

there are many walks here, and the hen and chicken is a great place to target at the end / middle of their hike! we had a great meal there after our walk. good eating and inviting personal in comfortable environment. it is also on the main road, so it is a great place for its stop during a longer journey. would definitely go back!

I miss the carvery they used to do. It’s only lunchtime now. Wednesday evening is now Pie and a Pint £18. We also asked for veg broccoli It took a while to come. Pie and chips isn’t a difficult menu. The broccoli four small stalks was £2 extra. Memo to caterers don’t be mean on small things people will notice. I don’t think we’ll be back any time soon.

we have been regular customers of this charming little pub for many years. today was the first time that we have been back since the pandemic and as always eating was amazing! we haven't booked, but we can get a table. we decided to go in the new scheune. the new look is great, a lot of work was put into the scheune pizzeria, but it still has that one of a kind old land pub feel that everyone loves. the staff are always happy, friendly, welcome and helpful.

recently served for Sunday dinner and was very impressed by the experience. the indoor restaurant area was full of character and had a real landscape feel about it. the service was also very friendly and fast too, so there was no excessive waiting time. eating was very good both the menu and the carvery. but it was very busy, so it is definitiw to book in advance to guarantee a table and not to give up a great day experience. I will definitely return and recommend!

Have previously had a lovely carvery with family here before, but whatever has happened? Chose beef and turkey. The chef couldn’t have sliced a thinner piece of beef if he’d tried and not a full slice either. It was also gristly. Turkey a bit better and more thickly sliced. Stuffing dry and hard I got the end piece). The roast potatoes and parsnips were good. Some almost empty dishes of veggies red cabbage, carrots and cabbage to choose from left overs perhaps from earlier servings. Gravy could have done with being hotter. Let’s hope this was just a bad day for the carvery and not replicated in the future.
