Hövelmann - Carta

Classic German restaurant with good value, high quality food. Enjoyed our lunch and will certainly go back for more. Lovely views over the historic Marketplace

We had dinner outside. Inside looked not so nice. Location on the market square was great! The food was good but the service was bad. Waitresses didn't bother to pay attention to guests.

Its an upmarket restaurant in Xanten. My grilled salmon with potato crust was excellent. Others had the lamb shank which also looked good. German Riesling was a perfect drink with the fish. Ver carta

Had a good meal sitting outside, with the entertainment of a local brass band and procession group. (Most went to the cathedral, but the rest to the beer tent! we chose typical local dishes, which were of good quality, and more than sufficient portions. Staff friendly and helpful. Bill was reasonable, not cheap, but good value for money.

Don't let the snooty appearance put you off, the staff were very attentive and made you feel comfortable. We had the seasonal asparagus soup (not the best) and I had the curry soup - which looked amazing, but I wanted a thai curry flavour and it was not what I was hoping for.There is certainly no need to have a starter the main course is more than enough - both good snitchel ( I asked for mine with a fried egg ( as per the trip advisor images) which was not a problem

Visited here with the family based on Trip Advisor reviews. We were very happy with our choice. We made reservations for their opening hour and were greeted with happy smiling faces. They sat us in the window front overlooking the cathedral and market square. Service was very good and the food was excellent. The price was about what you'd expect for a traditional upscale German restaurant in a nice location. There seemed to be a lot of locals there, which is a good sign. We were certainly impressed and walked away very happy. Certainly recommend it. Ver carta

We went to this restaurant, which is also a hotel (and also listed as such in a separate entry here on Tripadvisor) in August 2009 as a party of four. It's situated right on the central square in the pedestrianised area and was very convenient to reach from Hotel Bebber where we stayed overnight. It was a hot summer evening, so we chose one of the outside tables, where there was a good atmosphere. We had a 'Grillpfanne' (Mixed Grill), a 'Schnitzel' and two portions of the local dish 'Himmel und Erde' ('Heaven and Earth' – consisting of slices of black pudding with an apple-potato puree). the restaurant hövelmann with large terrace is located directly with views of the dom, on the marketplace of the medieval city center of xanten. the former St. viktor church is equipped with important artistic value and altar. the 1-hour domizil was very interesting. we then met the worldly joys in hövelmann ́s. the restaurant des hövelmann is modern equipped. grey column frame modern pictures and indirect red lights. the walls are painted in a friendly yellow. on the windows are oversized glass vessels with candles. the tables carry blossom white tablecloths with yellow cover. in the middle a cromargan plate with a rusty. the colorful serviettes are folded into bishop's capsules. a sprinkle...
