"simple 100% gluten-free socket in busy soho. blink and they would miss it. small spaces as usual in the center of london, so best to go, instead of trying an online booking (they always keep tabs for walks.) everything here is gf including desserts and beer, so it is a paradie for zöliakieer, but willing to pay through the nase! for beginners we ordered arancini, a brotsortiment and asparagus bacon croquettes all were okay and a leak for our children who had never eaten italian because of all gluten. netzen contain pink ravioli, spaghetti bolognaise and basil tagliatelle. all were sensational and very considerable portions. dessert was the biggest winner, though....read more"

I had a really nice time at this restaurant, it was my last day before heading back to the states. I wanted to do an Italian food. The food was really good and the wine as well. The staff was really nice too!!

I recently had dinner at La Taverna with a group from work. Outstanding italian food from beginning to end. Everyone commented that the food was excellent, the selection is fantastic and the service is excellent. Definitely recommended. Ver carta

service was friendly. the food was delicious, although the portions for the pasta were quite small. so good that they do not know that it was gluten-free! make sure they book when they go on a Saturday night, the place was rammed when we were there.

Last August, I discovered a small and cosy establishment called La Polenteria in the midst of bustling Soho. I loved the service and the interesting flavours, and told myself I would come back and try their new spring menu. And whilst London spring has not quite sprung yet, I decided to give it a go nonetheless!

Made a reservation before going there but was not happy to be seated right next to door on arrival. Tried various polenta starters small cupcakes, bruschetta, grilled veggie platter. Bruschetta from polenta lacked any flavouring n fresh tomato was tasteless as well. It seemed more like a novelty concept rather than a tasteful execution. Ver carta

London’s restaurant scene is amazing, but also baffling. There are pop-ups that sell fried crickets, dinners served atop cranes, and that’s before we even get to the phenomenon of establishments that focus their entire menu around one ingredient or idea. La Polenteria has polenta at the heart of 95% of their dishes. Baked, fried, boiled, shaped, spread… you name it, they do it! I recently downloaded the Zomato app, and La Polenteria popped up when I was searching for a place in Soho. A few taps later, I had a reservation for that same evening – I love efficiency.

So, I know the whole gluten free diet is a trend that’s really catching on, and it’s hard to find a health and fitness blogger that doesn’t advocate the benefits of going sans gluten…. but I must say, I am the exception to this rule! Maybe it’s just me, but my opinion is that unless you have a recognised gluten intolerance, gluten-free isn’t necessarily healthier. Infant, sometimes quite the opposite, as I have found gluten free flours are often much more refined, have a lot of additives, and not nearly the same amount as fibre as a natural, hearty, wholemeal flour.

"The decor of the restaurant is really lovely. We were greeted as soon as we arrived. We placed our orders quite briskly. We received complimentary bread and olives, which was a nice touch. Our Bruchetta starter arrived a whole hour after we arrived, which was disappointing and far too long to wait for a cold and easy starter. The menu did not specify that the prawns on one of the bruschettas were raw! The waiter said service was slow because they were busy with Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Clearly not prioritising paying customers, who pay a 12.5% service charge, unlike online customers. Eventually, our main courses arrived. My pasta was only just cooked, so close to being undercooked and hard. They ran out of ricotta and replaced it with the tiniest amount of cheese so I asked for some more. Since ricotta was supposed to be the main ingredient of the dish. The tuna steak was lovely, and the veal could have done with a thinner breadcrumb batter. The sides, chips and zucchini, were £4.50 and very small portions for such a cheap side. So that was slightly disappointing. Overall, the pinot grigio white wine was very drinkable, and they brought tap water when we asked for it. And the whole staff were very polite. It was a shame the service was so slow, and the food could have been better for the price that it was. We also felt it was overpriced for the location it was, zone 2 London and not in the West End."
