"Ristorante La Veranda boasts the creative gourmet creations by Calabrian Chef Domenico Ruberto. Its philosophy puts together the traditional food of the south of Switzerland, Canton Ticino region, the traditional food of the southern Italian region Calabria. It is an amazing fusion of tastes, created with excellent ingredients. The best part is that you expect gourmet, but you absolutely don't expect this kind of mix. I was delighted by the pumpkin risotto with Rossano licorice and truly moved by the dessert "pane, zucchero e olio" (bread, sugar and oil), created bu the chef in honor of his grandmother, as a memory of his breakfast when he was a child.Selection of wine is managed by the great sommelier Simone Ragusa (best sommelier of Switzerland in 2014). Service is attentive and location beautiful, with a huge view on the lake. This is a magic and refined restaurant where the belle epoque still lives!"

Excellent and wonderful decor, piano music, very professional and friendly staff, good, although expensive, list of wines, rich and savoury food, though not surprising. A very nice experience for a luxurious hotel restaurant. And if you are lucky enough to get one of the window tables, what a view from lake lugano!

La veranda Restaurant has been a quite agreeable surprise. I was expecting the standard high level - but boring - restaurant and the truth is, that it was an impressive fashion gourmet evening.Whole supper has been a discovery, from starters to dessert. From main courses to it formidable "bodega".Nobady can miss it!

Beautiful lake views (you are lower so your getting some trees blocking you. ). But overall nice. Service very very good. Good food. I had the shrimp and husband had the lamb. They make all the bread at the restaurant and had the best crunchy hollow breadsticks ever. Husband had the buffalo tomato appetizer... cheese was the size of a baseball and could have fed a large family!

Our dinner was included in our tour package so we could order whatever we wanted from the menu.My appetizer was zucchini and stuffed mushrooms. For my main course I ordered suckling pig, a nice tender piece of pork service along with small roasted potatoes and diced vegetables. It was really good. For dessert, I ordered apple strudel and whipped cream reminding me of our Vienna desserts when we were there. It was amazing!I highly recommend this hotel restaurant if you stay here.

We had the set menu the first night and a la carte the next. Both evenings the food was delicious. The view from the window seats is gorgeous especially as darkness falls and the lights over the lake come on. The service was wonderful - you certainly felt special. The courses were plentiful and there was no hurry at any point during the meal - the first night we were there 2 and a half hours! Against - well the portions are small and although the food is excellent it is expensive. The fact we went twice however says it all!!

Lovely meals both dinner and breakfast. For dinner, was surprised with portions but at the end I wasn't hungry. Had stuffed sole & Branzino. Both well prepared and presented. Very pleasant tasting. For starters-- had zucchini flower stuffed, and the other barrata w/tomato & prawns (heated). Ample room for desert - a desert tray came over - we had fruit tart & Tarameso. Cappuccino. Service smart, polite, and attentive. Wine was Pino-Grigio. Had limited selection of red or white. Atmosphere soothing!Formal. Glad I went to the hotel (Splendide Royal) restaurant!See photo of it all and go the the hotel site for gallery photos too.

We arrived at the restaurant without a reservation after a bike tour. We were not dressed up, just in jeans and shirt. We got immediately welcomed and after we did not like the first table the organized a new one for us directly on the windows with a beautiful view. This is not common in such restaurants. The service was great, friendly and very helpful. The prices are quite ok for the style and the level of the restaurant. The wine list is long and impressive with also good choices of small bottles. The food was very well presented and quite good. As this is a gourmet restaurant it could have got a little bit more push but overall still great. This restaurant is great for a candle light dinner...

While staying at the hotel we ate here with a group which is usually the kiss of death for an enjoyable experience. Not this time. The setting is extremely impressive with old style tall ceilings, romantic views over the lake and appropriate furnishings. My wife and I had capresse salad, fresh pasta with fish sauce, veal, sea bass, and raspberry cheesecake from the dessert cart. Wine was a Sicilian white which was nice. Service was formal, but friendly. Timing was relaxed but fine for a meal of this type and group size. Later when I complimented our waiter on my caffe corretto he took me to the bar and had me served gratis the type of Ticino grappa used in my espresso. See if you can get a t...

Just after I proposed to my girlfriend I wanted to treat us on a romantic dinner with exquisite dishes. Romantic and exquisite it was! Francesco and Salvatore made sure the evening had everything we could hope for. Very attentive service, star worthy dishes and a table decorated with roses and marsipan hearts. We had the Menu Gastronomico "Momenti d'Oro". A 5 course menu with the best ingredients, a perfect preperation and stunning combinations:- the scallops melted on the tongue- the lobster was perfectly accompanied by a slightly spicy sauce- the combination of veal, foie gras and port wine reduction always works for me ;-)- and the desert with chocolate, gold and an artistic "YES" was a jo...
