"Whenever you happen to be in the Cannes Mougins Valbonne area, be sure to book lunch (weekdays only and lunch only) at this family run roadside eatery. Difficult to name it a restaurant since it 's set menu only, table cover is paper, the place is always chock full, that 's probably why they called it auberge themselves, i.e. inn . You have to book! Book after 1pm, since noon to 1pm is the local workers builders gardeners lunch time and you 'll understand why they flock here in herds! You 'll find your christian name on the edge of a paper table napkin, that 's where you sit. Only order they take is the colour of your wine! All the rest is set, and what a set! Food is always fresh, with 200 or so guests a day and a set menu, that 's a guarantee. Quality of food and cooking is good, quantity is big, huge forget a big Mac, you 've never seen this before, neither will you probably find an equivalent! The best part comes at the end: all in from starters to coffee and 1/2 bottle of your favourite colour (wine) ends up at 13.50 Euro pp. Now, how 's that for lunch on the Côte d 'Azur, 30 minutes from Cannes?"

Every day there is a new menu. You can’t chose except the desert. Every time we go it’s excellent and you get a bottle of red or rose. Very good food and friendly service. Reasonable prices

Great food, well served, very friendly hosts, make you feel welcome all the time, very family restaurant. The menu is very diversified, and all plates are well served. Prices are very reasonable. Do not expect any scenery, no view, just your food, which is great. Ask for the cuisses de grenouilles , (frog legs), great.

We tried the restaurant as the reviews were good; we called and made a reservation. On arrival we were seated at the entrance and next to the noisy and windy door table reserved and a basket of stale bread. The waiter served another diner sat next to us and ignored us; after finally attracting his attention he spoke at us. Throughout the meal he was surly and rude. The food was ok but nothing to rant about. A huge disappointment give it a miss

This used to be my favorite restaurant for pizza. It was always packed with locals and was a great meeting place seeing friends dining. It changed hands recently and was closed for awhile. It finally reopened and 6 friend and I decided to try it out. After waiting for 2 hours with promises that our orders were coming right out we finally walked out at 10pm with few other choices to get a meal elsewhere. I have never had such poor service! We used to eat there 2-3 times a month but never again.

The fixed price menu has never been the same twice over the dozen years or more that I have visited L'Auberge. It's up to you if you like the daily menu, there have been times when I didn't care for a particular course but it wasn't because of poor preparation but due to my own preferences. Four courses cold starter, warm starter, main dish and dessert, accompanied with a half bottle of wine per person and coffee, all for under 20 euros. Just don't plan on a productive afternoon at work after your lunch here. It's best to reserve to make sure you get a table as it's often full.

Firstly do not go here if you want to feel special or posh. Do go here if you are visiting the Grasse area and you want a decent home cooked lunch for 16 euros with wine and coffee thrown in. There is no atmosphere or ambience to speak of except the chatter of locals ripping in to a hearty lunch pensioners, workmen and a few tourists. You eat what you are given: greek salad, a sausage roll, rabbit chasseur with polenta and apricot tart in my case. Service is rapid and professional. It reminded me of a relais routier from about 1975 grandma's hearty cooking, not a bad memory at all

Not in Valbonne itself, but on the outskirts of the nearby village of Plascassier. A local institution. No frills, no decor, plastic chairs. Absolutely packed at lunch, serves hundreds the 4 course €16 set menu is perhaps the best deal in the south of France. Local families, expats, construction workers in hi viz vests and millionaires from the Valbonne golf course all mingle happily. Excellent Provencal style pizzas and simple bistrot fare at dinner. Huge portions. Brisk, efficient and when the get to know you as a regular charming service. Authentic, unspoiled French home cooking, unbeatable value. This is what eating in France is about.

Well, that may be a little over the top but we go there almost every Friday night. The crust is thin but not too thin. There are around 12 different pizza on the menu plus other standard and interesting choices. Personally I love the Provencial pizza. Owners and waitstaff are friendly. Some English is spoken. They have their own labeled wine which is very good, but not expensive, and the wifi pw is on the bottle label! They have a great fixed price lunch menu on weekdays and it is always crowded. For dinner they are open Friday and Saturday all year and in the summertime they extend that to weeknights too. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I haven't been to a French restaurant like this in years. It's like the land that time forgot! Great! It's a classic French working mans bistro. No menu no choice. Your in, your out. Such fun. As soon as your seated you have a salad put in front of you, followed by a soup, then a main and a choice of pud. Portions are huge. The quality is fantastic and you can only have red, white or rose to drink (and water of course). Oh did I say as much wine as you can handle all for the price of 17 Euros. It's closed on weekends and I don't know what's on in the evenings but if you have friends coming down it's a great place to take them to let them feel and taste what it used to be like out here. Love...
