Almost next door to the cinema complex in the centre of Angouleme we came after an early evening film looking for a simple meal. Well, it was simple - simply excellent! The huge grill fire was mesmerising with the chef constantly in attention, moving food about the grill stand and tending the fire itself. We just wanted a main course and chose the faux filet served with a blue cheese sauce, garlic oven baked potatoes and grilled tomatoes. It was stunning - just good food, well cooked. The flavour and quality of the steak was excellent and all for 10 euros! We had a couple of glasses of Bordeaux Lestage and a coffee with the whole bill coming to €26.50.
