"We visited Phil You Up after reading reviews online and am sad that we’ve left it this longer to finally try them out. The wait for reasonable and I noticed that people were turning up having pre-ordered which seemed like a great idea. I had the chicken masala wrap as a meal deal. The wrap was delicious and a generous size filled with salad. The chips were well cooked and it good quality. Nice and hot. Staff were friendly throughout. I would thorough recommend Phil You Up for a quick lunch on the go or a cheeky takeaway when you just don’t fancy cooking. Very tasty"

"I'm not usually a selfish person, but if I could, I would keep the Rye Cafe all to myself. They offer a brilliant selection from their usual menu, and Robbie, the chef and owner, usually has daily specials. The only real resemblance to a normal community cafe is a general friendliness and abundance of local regulars the food is anything but typical. Yes, yes, of course you can get a bacon or sausage sandwich, but these are made from all locally sourced ingredients and cooked to perfection seriously! Juices are all made to order. Sweet treats and bake goods what he doesn't create himself also come from local one person/one kitchen set ups. Robbie draws on his years of being a top hotel chef in Dubai and Southeast Asia to bring you special delights with a kick. During the Virus, Robbie has also maintained an excellent delivery service, with to die for burgers, slow cooked brisket and other fab foods. Order early, especially the weekends. And his community spirit means he's been cooking for the NHS and elderly sheltering. Great guy, great food, great cafe. But don't tell too many people I'm one of those friendly local regulars who still hopes to get a table for lunch."

"I visited my elderly Mum today, she suggested going to the Derby Arms for a roast dinner as she'd eaten there recently with my sister. However they were fully booked, so I looked online and found Galu. The reviews were great and my Mum has only ever heard good things from friends and neighbours. So I called and booked for 12:45 Sunday 21st Jan 2024. We were both pleasantly surprised to see roast dinners on the menu ... Mum order lamb and I ordered beef part of their set menu. When the dinners arrived, you could see straight away that the lamb was Very Fatty (not even crispy) when my my tried eating it, it was both tough and chewy! As for the beef, this was cooked ok and edible, although I asked for the beef to be medium, but it was more well done. The waiter came over to ask if the meal was ok, I highlighted how the lamb was... the manager then came over and offered my Mum a slice of beef to compensate, bearing in mind she ordered lamb. Mum subsequently found that some of her roast potatoes were hard inside! I finished my meal, but could see Mum really didn't enjoy hers leaving a substantial amount on her plate, and having tried her lamb it really was inedible! We were then offered a full list of desserts rather than the set menu, having chocolate brownie and creme brûlée (both were gorgeous) When the bill arrived, I was hoping they would have somehow made amends, but alas no ... as Mum doesn't like to cause a fuss and it was her treat, I decided not to say anything, although the staff manager could tell we weren't happy. Having come from East Sussex for the day and regularly have great Sunday roasts in local pubs, I was hoping for something special in this restaurant, but sadly that wasn't the case. In fact it's probably one of the worst roast dinners I've had in a long time. I very much doubt we'll return ..."

"This restaurant is a wonderful local gem. My group enjoyed delicious camembert and mushroom starters, followed by a tasty chicken pie. The staff added an extra touch to our dining experience with their friendly and welcoming service. The price per person ranged from £20 to £30, but the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere was well worth it. I highly recommend trying the Extra Crusty Baguette. There is plenty of parking available for customers, with a free parking lot as an option."

"In my earlier visit, the food was truly excellent, and the manager took the time to chat with me. However, I noticed that no one mentioned the loyalty program. I found the display and the card only after we had already spent £50, which was disappointing. Additionally, while discussing my experience, the manager brought up an inexperienced employee who was just a couple of feet away behind the bar. It's frustrating when points aren't recognized, especially when there should be better communication among staff. Overall, it's a great place to eat, but there are some areas for improvement in customer service."
