Excellent Coq au Riesling, dishes served were very, very good, and the desserts equally excellent. Good wine. Polite and friendly service. I will surely go to Maternus again.

Lovely Viennese schnitzel here tonight. Yes, that means it is veal. Great taste and the small salad as well with fried potatoes. All very delicious. And then there was dessert. It was the final item on the back page, the warm apple strudel. Fantastic with...ice cream and a vanilla bourbon sauce. Perfect end to a great meal on a cold evening. Price is right for the portions. And I topped it off town Kölsch as well. Thanks for a lovely meal.

I visited this restaurant with friends for the second year in a row after participating in a local running event. The waiting staff created a great rapport with us even in a second language (most of our party were English), making us feel welcome and...really looking after us. The food was excellent. I had the Sauerbraten, which was sublime and a fantastic dessert too. Great food, great service and reasonably priced. What more can you ask for? I'm sure we will be back next year.

we had gone to a little snack in the maternus house and met all the famous politicians from the time when bonn was still capital that hangs there on the wall. here was written once a story that you still feel to the smallest detail, everything seems to have remained as it was.We felt like something special by the very courtesy and extremely friendly welcome.Every smallest wish was read to us from the eyes....Rostbeaf was my choice and matjes, which was from my aunt.Beides a true pleasure.

When we stayed in Bonn recently, we didn't realise that our hotel (the excellent Villa Godesberg) was so far out of town.......so we searched on Google for a nearby restaurant and Maternus popped up. We really liked it: the courtyard out the back is pretty...and romantic. The food was excellent traditional dishes very well and freshly prepared. The service was very good too. We both had Schnitzel, one with potato salad and one with fried potatoes. Very tasty indeed! A nice touch was that there is a herb garden growing in the courtyard and the chefs came out to pick the herbs freshly.

This restaurant like Limao is close to the Hotel I stayed at recently for a two week business trip. I visited times in this period and was never disappointed. They welcome you warmly, and seem genuinely happy if you enjoy the food. The fare...is sort of classic local home cooking. I remember a very tasty tartar, the cod liver dish as a starter is divine, and they do a salad with veal strips which i loved. My colleague had a good steak on one evening, and I also remember a veal ragu thing with cheese filled gnocchi. The drinks were all as they should be (really good house merlot). The prices are not cheap, but I would say fare.

I come back to this restaurant every time I am in Bonn. For good reason. Their menu is simple, to the point, and brilliant. And every dish is prepared with care and very high standards. This time I ate here three times. Since it is...white asparagus season, I took advantage and ate asparagus every time- in different combinations. With schnitzel, with lamb chops, with steak. Always equally excellent. The service is incredibly nice and concerned that you have a good experience. This restaurant has a high profile with politicians both from Germany and abroad. Their little room on the side has seen some action. Ask for a quick tour of the room. This is indeed a jewel in Bad Godesberg

Went there by casuality as the one next door could not understand what gluten free means. And gosh how lucky we were! The restaurant has seats inside and in a garden. As the weather was hot, we opted for the garden. Waitresses make you like...at home. Smiling and pro. Anything from the menu looked good and we selected meat. Perfectly cooked and tender, we all enjoyed it. Table next to use had ordered a dessert and we saw the cook coming to prepare it at their table. We asked what it was and they said ot was zabaglione with ice cream. We all went for it and I must confess I never had such a spendid one. To the point that if you are around, just go there at least for it. I will surely go back...

The name is linked to the Maternus family and has no relation with the century Roman soldier Maternus who, having become a deserter under the reign of Commodus, lead...an armed revolt known as the ‘Revolt of Maternus’.
