Great place if you want to be surrounded by selfish dog owners, misbehaved, wining, yappy dogs. The staff did nothing. We could not hear ourselves talking. Never again unless you treat dogs like humans

What has happened?used to be nice for lunch, been there before. This time we ordered veggie sausage sandwiches and got a white tasteless roll with undercooked sausages- not even a garnish or a bit of salad. The staff was unfriendly and bored. It was frankly gross and insulting. You are captive at Arkwright but there is now a cafe across the street and we may head there next time!

What a great cafe. Family visit to the site and we stopped at this gem. Warm inviting staff, great visual display of food easy to read menus. Dog welcome great! Amazing options for us as a family vegetarian daughter, lots of options there for her. We also have coeliac needs in the family (gluten free) and there were around 5 gluten free cake options alone. Have visited on many occasions as we live locally and we gave always had great food, often just a sandwich or baguette but always excellent with lots of filling and side salad. Today was a very different story. The cafe appears to have changed hands and with it the menu and food has changed. The 'panini ' that we had was essentially a warmed up large bread roll with absolutely no dressing. Very disappointing. Friendly staff and good service but a big shame that the food has changed.

I live locally and have used this excellent cafe quite a few times. The food has always been good, likewise the service. The staff are friendly and efficient. I particularly like their cakes and scones. Seating indoors is fairly basic, but OK. There's good seating outside if the weather is suitable. It's also very handy for the mill, canal and other attractions. There's a well stocked cheese shop nearby too. There's a car park adjacent, but being local I've never needed to use it so can't comment on the prices.

Really excellent food here and quick service. Friendly staff, thanks for making us feel welcome. We had the lamb stew served in a big fluffy Yorkshire pudding. The lamb was really tender and well proportioned to the winter root veges and potatos. We had ours with a side salad and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, sorting out some cucumber sticks for our baby who was a big fan of the whole meal. I would also recommend their hot chocolate, nice and smooth and a good size portion. We were pleasently surprised to find that our meal was a gluten free and that most of the menu is gluten free! I ordered three cups of coffee and after waiting for almost half an hour they got the order wrong. I was given cups that I was told I couldn’t take outside to my waiting family as we had our dog with us the coffees would have to be in cardboard cups the coffees wet given to someone else and I waited again for another twenty minutes. When my coffees finally arrived the woman serving me rudely implied that I had already had the coffee’s. She finally gave me my three coffees reluctantly. The place was very busy but the young people serving had absolutely no idea what they were doing and the woman in charge was extremely rude and completely unprofessional and frankly incompetent.

Been meeting here for lunch for well over 10 years. Not been for a while but the food today was very poor and it seems different providers. We've always had very tasty sandwiches/blomers/rolls complete with salad garnish and often crisps but today it was just a very strange pannini for my tuna melt which wasn't a panini and my friend had a panini which did at least look like one. Just that on a small plate, nothing else for almost £7! It looked very basic and tasted very basic. We asked, and were then given a little side plate of lettuce, couple of pieces of cucumber and a slice of tomato. Sadly we will find somewhere else for lunch in future. This used to be our go to cafe in the area for a coffee break and best ever Cherry and Walnut scones. We went a few months ago and there was a bit of disappointment with the scones not as many cherries and walnuts as usual. On this occasion we mentioned this to the server and a lady from the back room came out to say that they were the same as they 'd always been and we must have just been unlucky. We tried again a couple of weeks ago and you had to look really carefully to see any tiny bits of cherries and nuts at all. It 's a shame, the scones still taste good but without the fruit and nuts. The large pieces of cherry and nut used to be sticking out of the scone. We 'll be looking for some... Ver carta
