"We love the Place du Forum, whether for a drink or a meal. It has a great atmosphere and is a wonderful place to pass time people-watching. During our recent week stay in Arles, we ate twice at Mon Bar. As we frequently do, my husband and I shared a large salad, a main course, and a dessert, more than enough to satisfy two appetites. Both times we had the same entree and dessert, because we just loved them. The Salade Exotique included some field greens, heaped with avocado, heart of palm, coconut, tomato, and other delights! Delicious!! The dessert we loved was pear in a salted caramel sauce. OMG! I am a chocoholic and almost never stray from that if I have dessert--and to do so two times tells you something about this dish! For the main course, one night we had a wonderful, tasty chicken in curry sauce and the other night a pork dish, less memorable, but good. Our waiter was friendly and witty. At first he teased us (or so we thought, our French being less than fluent) about sharing the dishes, but later even worked out giving us one of the rates for a formule (prix fixe) even though our choices didn't exactly fit into the offer for that menu. Inexpensive, delicious food."

Very good dishes, especially the beef tartare seasoned with garlic. Very generous children's menu. Good value for money and ideal location on the Place du Forum

always hyper welcomed by virgile, a living legend of the forum! The restoration is good and at reasonable prices! the magic formula: the sun, friends and a little yellow!

The three of us ate at Mon Bar on our last night in Arles. The place was packed, so the service was a little slow, but we were happy to sit in the square, chat and drink wine. The food was plentiful, nice and good value.

They say about me that I am the mascot of this place I confirm. Perfect welcome every morning with the big boss Our beloved Carmelle and her son Jordan I highly recommend this place for the fresh produce table with daily specials.

Good fresh products cooked with passion. A fun moment with people who put their heart into what they do and it shows on the plate. From perfectly cooked octopus to an excellent Caesar salad, we enjoyed ourselves and had a great time. The boss is a ray of sunshine I highly recommend.

Enjoyed lunch here on the square. Good seafood selections and good service. English speaking server & host. Be aware of locals here too at lunch so can get very crowded and expect lots of cigarette smoking and smoke. It's my opinion most everyone in France smokes and smokes often, especially outside restaurants and out door dining.

With a number of what seemed to be good options in the plaza by the Van Gogh 'Yellow Cafe", we decided on Mon Bar, partly because they had nice mister fans going and it was over 90 in the shade! Our server turned out to be a fun, if not a little smart alec and charmed the lady's with songs and reparte'. The food was great and especially theTartar was awesome. Friends from Montpellier (locals) to meet us as it was our first visit to this part of France, and they were very impressed! I highly recommend.

"This restaurant is part of a hotel in a very impressive 16th century building. It looks very classy. However, the night we were there, there must have been some serious problems in the kitchen (or maybe it is always like that . We started with a shared plate of charcuterie which took a long time to arrive – how long does it take to arrange the cold meats on a plate? We then waited a very, very long time for our main courses. While waiting, we saw a dispute at another table involving the maître d’ and resulting in plates going back to the kitchen. We had both ordered duck à l’orange which came with Camargue rice. The rice appeared to have been baked in the oven and was so crisp and dry that it resembled a cereal bar. The ‘orange’ was not the usual sauce, but instead was four cubes of orange that appeared to have been scorched on a grill. They added nothing to the dish. It had been suggested that we should share a side of seasonal vegetables. These turned out to be big chunks of boiled potatoes (with rice! , a boiled root vegetable and a couple of dry artichokes. We had interchanges with two servers and the maître d – all were cold and brusque. We lived in France for more than 20 years and appreciate the fact that the French like to take their time with meals, but there is a big difference between leisurely and glacially slow. Perhaps we were there on a bad night, others seem to have had a better experience."
