Osmans Toechter - Carta

It seems Berlin is heavily influenced food wise by Turkey and Vietnam so we tried this Turkish restaurant. It's hard to get a table without a booking. We tried hommus and mushrooms which was fantastic as well as the ceviche. Service was friendly and efficient.Enjoyed ourselves thoroughly

At a recent city trip to Berlin we stumbled across this fantastic restaurant. It was great on many levels ambiance, decor, service and of course the food. We all really enjoyed the evening, we tried to book it on the Saturday night but it was already fully booked 3 days in advance. If you decide to go there best to book.

- slow and massively arrogant service- bad quality, can't be compared at all to the quality of food in Istanbul, even resulting in digestive issues- the inside seating area was overheated on a rather cold Berlin summer day- there are some tables at the street not covered by the louvre but being reserved for guests on a rainy day! It was good quality but not exceptionnal, expensive for Berlin prices. What also is good to mention is if you are really gourmand and you liked the food really much you will probably being disapointed because we have not enough in our plate. Where it is really unacceptable is the bottle of water. 5 euros for tap water just "filtered and vitalized".

I'm glad to say that I have eaten here a few times in the last 3 years, always good. The new menu makes the experience even more fun, the whole family had a chance to taste a bit of everything. The vegetarians had their belly full and smiles on, the drinks quenched our thirst and left a sweet after taste. So nice to eat such a friendly authentic and special place.

The location is very nice, the food is very good. The service was terrible. We had come from a full day of touristing around Berlin and the waiter looked at us as if we were someone he despised a lot even having screamed at us twice when we were deciding on what to order. It is weird that someone who bring dishes to other people's tables for a living suffers from such a superiority syndrome.All in all, recommended. We had not heard about this place and since it is right next door to the Ballhaus Ost, we decided to have a quick pre-theatre meal. We were lucky to get a table without having booked and it was outside on the street, which we did not mind. We had the tomato and goat's cheese for a starter to share, which was very good. For mains we shared Fischköfte (A fish cake) and Manti (a Turkish tortellini) both were delicious. The service was friendly and quick. It was still swinging when we can out of the theatre a couple of hours later.

When I was in Turkey I would always just walk into Turkish restaurants, tell them I was vegetarian and ask them to put together a mezze (or meze) plate for me, and enjoy the surprise of seeing what came out. Osman's Toechter reminded me very much of those days - they have a large menu of small plates designed to be shared with others at the table. There is an excellent selection of vegetarian options, though meat is available too. I enjoyed every dish that I tried, though my dining companion did note that it was more "soft and spreadable" than she'd expected... if you want a range of textures (especially firm or crunchy) consider asking for guidance as you order. We (couple) came to Osmans at 6.30 p.m. on a Sunday without a reservation (bigmistake) but the maitre d'/coordinator or whatever you want to call him, was very kind and showed us to a table not without warning us "you'll will have to leave before 8.00 p.m because everything is already prereserved". We ordered quickly three "mezes" (finger food: eggplant,cheese with "crocant" and chard rolls with rice and herbs/spices in a yoghurt sauce).Although the servings were satisfying (quality and quantity) we still asked for two main courses: lamb chops with very savory mashed sweet potatoes and grilled meatballs in yoghurt sauce.
