"We booked a special birthday lunch here, having seen some good reviews. We were shown to the ballroom, where the flowers on the table were dead!! We were then given a bar menu of small plates. When we asked for the lunch menu, we were told that they were not running lunch today, as they had a large booking in the evening. We booked in advance and the day before, we had an email asking us to reconfirm our booking, which we did. The restaurant didn’t bother to warn us in advance despite having told them it was a special birthday lunch. Appalling service, so we left and ate elsewhere, at the White Hart in Fyfield, where we had a wonderful meal"

"The rooms are beautiful, I stayed in room 5 which had been recently redecorated with calming colors and a comfortable bed. Nearby activities include a 3000 year old painting on the ground at the White Horse, a nice hike with great views when the weather is good. The menu is excellent with delicious food, my compliments to the chef! The owners are lovely people, very approachable and always ready to help. They have hearts of gold."

"Let me just say, the food was pretty good obviously a good team in the kitchen, not too long a wait and all very well presented. This is however where my praise finishes. It appears that even if you pre book a large group to eat on a quiet Saturday lunchtime you will not be given the best of receptions. We decided for ease of everyone to pay separately for our drinks at the bar this was not taken well and a frosty response from the woman at the bar made it clear we were already not doing things the way she wanted. Food orders were taken shortly after followed by an arm to the face as cutlery and sauce pots were pushed past us in no polite manner. Once our meals were delivered we were left alone to eat, no service followed. After our meals we decided to pay up individually so we all paid for what we ordered. At the bar. All was well until one of our group decided to ask if a service charge had been added, the reply was from the landlord of yes it had. Our group member asked for it to be removed in a polite manner as he explained it should be down to the customer to pay this not automatically. Having worked in pubs for many years myself this is a perfectly reasonable request, the fact we did most of the service for them by going to the bar to pay and get our drinks and no follow up after food served, meant the service charge of 10% not even shown on receipt, deceiving customers who leave a tip not realising the service charge has also been added. The landlord flew off the rails calling my group member a F king W! £er and a horrible man many times infront of the other customers, raging and abusive behaviour followed when he cornered my group member outside the pub as we were leaving. This behavior was so unacceptable and unbelievable, towards a man in his late 60s who never raised his voice once. So to all potential customers check your receipt before you leave the establishment and for a bill breakdown brace yourself for a full torrent of abuse before you are kicked out of the pub because of a service charge they have not declaired properly. Never visiting again!!!!"

"Elegimos este restaurante porque aparecía como dog friendly y queriamos probar el tradicional Sunday Roast.Primera decepción: nos dicen que en el restaurante no, que tiene que ser en la terraza de un bonito jardín. Como hace buen día no nos importa (aunque no nos gusta comer en terrazas).El servicio es lento, pero no tenemos prisa. Por fin llegan los primeros platos y con ellos empiezan a merodear las avispas. Uno de los comensales es alérgico a sus picaduras. Lo comentamos. Ninguna solución. A duras penas acabamos los primeros (que no son como para tirar cohetes) y comentamos si podemos trasladarnos al interior. Nos dicen que si, pero que tenemos que dejar a la perrita fuera a pesar de que la sala está prácticamente vacía. Les decimos que para nada y no nos dan ninguna solución. Comentamos que eso no es ser un restaurante dog friendly, pero como si oigo llover.Decidimos irnos y todo el detalle y la disculpa que tienes con nosotros es presentarnos una cuenta de aproximadamente la mitad del importe de los menús de 3 platos que habíamos pedido.Una vergüenza y una decepción enorme."

"Decided to give this place a go after reading all the reviews, and was pleasantly surprised. Like many here, I agree the pizza was absolutely delish quite possibly the best takeaway pizza we've had! I also ordered a doner meat and chips and was shocked by how generous the portion was. Can't speak for the fish, but the chips were crisp and lovely. This will be my go to takeaway while in Faringdon. If you're on the fence, give it a go for sure."
