"After we read reviews, we thought this was the place for fish and chips. it's not. the warning signs were there – you could not even see the friteer or the fish and chip counter. essentially this is a caffe with cafe-style eating - not right. fish and chips. we ordered fish and chips x2 and sat on a bank to look over the sea, in the ground eating over boiled broken fish - clearly not caught locally and of chips deep fat broken- non-traditional chips. very disappointing lunch with a view of the sea."

"We had been hunting around for a alternative location for a superb cream tea after reading that Chessel Pottery has gone very much downhill and no longer makes the cream teas it was famous for. Lady Scarlett’s has an incredible record of top scores, which we’re now extremely suspicious of. We phoned ahead to check for availability and although the person on the phone wasn’t rude, they made us feel we’d possibly made a bad choice with their attitude on the phone. You can’t judge a book by its cover, but when we arrived at the place, we wondered if it was really the right place. Sadly it was. Not very inviting and seemed a bit too rough around the edges, despite the ‘World War period’ theme. When we entered, a grumpy man (possibly the owner) was there observing people coming in, although very few people were coming in (a big sign of bad things). When we mentioned issues parking, he told us that there’s lots of parking in Newport. This location is nowhere near that, so we assume we were being told to go elsewhere if we didn’t like it! Lovely! The place was empty whilst others were full, so there’s a hint! We left without ordering anything. An unpleasant experience."

"Stopped for a cream tea which the wife enjoyed. Usual 2 scones provided with jam and clotted cream and a good pot of tea. They normally do Gluten Free cream tea but due to high demand had sold out of GF scones. They were however able to supply GF cheese scones so I had a savoury version of cream tea, 2 GF cheese scones, a tomato chutney and a cream cheese. Was very nice and would recommend."

"I always wondered what the ambulances were for when they were driving through Shanklin, it's for people having a heart attack when receive the bill, noone mentions in reviews about the prices on menu are before vat, we didn't notice this on menu but were told by lovely couple sat next to us that this is the case but food good and Italian wine good, it'll be just special occasions when we go back Service: Dine in"

"Excellant all round, a selection of starters including delicious homemade Humous , Garlic bread, and fantastic Crab pate pots with chilli and spices. Amazing Confit Duck dish to die for, along with the most delicious vegtables cooked to perfection. Well worth a return visit again...and again. All diners in our party were amazed at the flavours and well put together dishes, along with fantastic attentive service it was a memorable night and highly reccommended for groups or couples alike. A great place and without a doubt up there with the top restaurants in Ventnor."
