"We stayed for one night at the Bell, pub/ hotel. We had booked the best room as it advertised a Super-king bed. £170 per night comfortable but too expensive for what it was Also no body mentions during the booking stage it is upstairs and I have difficulty with stairs. Cameron greeted us with a friendly greeting and did swap the room for a shower instead of a bath. Unfortunately the room was over the outside seating area and there was a noisy crowd with very loud voices. So don’t pick that room in the summer. We had booked in the restaurant for Dinner. I had the Ribeye Steak with a small side of chips and some green dressing. Steak was fatty and tough.Greens had too much dressing. £36:00 didn’t realise it cost that much. My husband had a Pizza £16:00. One beer £6:20 x 2 desserts £77:00 shocked when received the bill. Then in the morning thought breakfast was included but was only the continental breakfast. Bacon sandwich was a charge of £5:00 and was very fatty as well. Will not be returning. Nice place. Friendly staff but just too expensive."

I don’t know what everyone’s problem is, we had a fantastic lunch at The Bell today. Delicious food, excellent service. Couldn’t fault it.

Visited for Sunday lunch, which was OK, but nothing special. Some members of staff need to work on their people skills, others were very pleasant. For the money they charge per plate, there are nicer and better value places to visit for Sunday lunch in the area. I don't think we will be returning anytime soon.

My party and I tried out this restaurant for Sunday lunch the other week and we were seated in the dining area. The roast beef (£22) and roast lamb (£20) were both tasty, along with the roasted vegetables and gravy. The portion sizes were decent, though not overly large. The desserts were also delicious, particularly the lemon posset. We would definitely come back if we were in the neighborhood again. Ver carta

Superbly cooked food. The Cod Pieces starter was lovely. My main course, Linguine with wild mushrooms, aged Parmesan and Wiltshire truffle, was truly outstanding absolutely bursting with flavour! My wife had the smoked salmon as a starter and cod mourney as her main course. She found it to be as enjoyable as my meal. The Chef is to be congratulated on cooking skills. The servers were efficient and friendly. A most enjoyable experience.

I had eating lobster on my bucket list. What I got thanks to James Graham, Executive Chef at the Bell was an incredible experience of seafood heaven. It would not be hyperbole to say that each course on the tasting menu was a triumph of deliciousness. There was drama (the oyster in a sea mist), poetry (the Arpege Egg), music (Ceviche of Scallops). Every mouthful of every course was heaven. When we got to the Lobster I was overwhelmed- nothing prepared me for the flavours. It was an incredible evening of dining the like of which I have never experienced.

I decided to try the roast at this restaurant and I was not disappointed. I found it confusing when they offered me apple sauce with my beef, which made me think the staff could use better training. I was also not impressed with the fact that the staff were wearing jeans that were not up to par with the setting. I believe that going out for Sunday lunch should be a special occasion worth dressing up for, but maybe I am just old-fashioned. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice. The dessert menu was full of delicious options, making it hard to choose just one. Ver carta

Sat in pretty garden and had a lovely Sunday lunch but what I wanted to say is how very helpful the staff were when we had a terrible incident locking our dogs in the car. Somehow I left the key inside and the car locked itself it was a warm day and I was frantically worried about the two dogs. The manager was really calm and asked his staff to try and get into the car when that failed a waitress drove us home to get the spare key. Meanwhile they did all they can to cover and shield the car from the sun. Thankfully the dogs were ok when we returned. I will always be grateful to The Bell.

Eventually, we were seated in the restaurant by a friendly waitress with black hair who despite being busy, still managed to greet us warmly. The service was a bit slow, perhaps due to understaffing, but the food made up for it. Our meals of Steak Frites and Fish and Chips, along with desserts, were delicious. As the restaurant quieted down, we settled our bill and left, only to notice that the manager was still in the same spot at the bar. Hopefully, he can provide more support to his staff in the future. Overall, The Bell offers fantastic food and good service, and I would definitely return for another meal.

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."
