I had a wonderful lunch today. The staff were very welcoming, and the food and atmosphere were delightful. We will certainly be returning!

This restaurant is situated in the quaint village of Firbeck, which may be a bit off the beaten path. However, Firbeck is the kind of peaceful rural escape that people often pass through on their way to bigger destinations.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The service was excellent, and the rump steak was outstanding. The steak and ale pie was also delicious. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I highly recommend it! I left feeling completely stuffed and can't wait to come back. Thank you! Ver carta

Disappointed by cold food that had to be sent back for microwaving, and the menu prices shown are NOT what you pay in tiny print at the bottom of the menu is a note that 10% Service charge is added to your bill. So overall we found it expensive for a pub lunch time and can only give it an average score for taste and quantity. However the atmosphere inside was good and the service very good. Me and Hubby have just got home after a lovely meal at the Black Lion, we’ve been wanting to visit for a few months but just never got around to it. For starters we shared the full Camembert, it came with gorgeous crunchy bread and a lovely dip,(can’t remember what the dip was) For mains my hubby had the 10 oz Bacon steak with Chips , fried egg, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms and he ate every item on his plate which is so unusual for him, the steak was an inch thick and he said it just melted in the mouth. We went here on a whim for our anniversary afternoon tea as we had heard good things about it. As we walked in I was instantly hit with the vibe. And what a vibe it is. Very cottage like and warm. Very farmer esc is the best way I can describe it with beautiful and nostalgic furnishings throughout, pictures of local wildlife and the history of the place really pull you in straight away. We were greeted by a lovely lady called Zoey and she was instantly helpful and you could tell she wanted us to have the best experience.
