"warm and welcoming like a home from home! we visit this pub at special locations as it is an hour away from home, but it is always so worth the greeting they receive is so warm, the staff is incredibly friendly and efficient the atmosphere. is beautiful with a log fire that burns away and finally eating, hearty, large portions, well presented and easy feel as if they went back to home to “Mums” for dinner! I never order a roast everywhere, because nothing compares with my mums, but here is the only exception! Many thanks that they cate to us again hosting us and john was perfect as usual! I'm sure I'll be back soon! abigail and family xx"

"The best first post lock down meal. Eating at the Greyhound is never disappointing but the food tastes extra good today as it was our first meal out since lock down. The restaurant was stunning as always, safety measures were in place but the atmosphere was happy and relaxed and it actually felt like normal for once. The food was fresh and flavours delicious with portions to be the perfect size. Every detail is thought of here and alongside the food the whole dining experience is just perfect. I really would suggest anyone looking for a break from the kitchen takes a night off and visits the Greyhound as you will no be disappointed and you'll leave feeling so happy!"

"Had not visited for some time but, the rumour was that it was very busy and food good and you needed to book...so did for 12.30. Seated quickly by a very pleasant young lady who quickly took our drinks order, delivered it as quickly and then took our order......2 onion soups and a scampi and a pie of the day (steak and ale). Soups arrived after a slight delay.......lots of onion, but no taste of onion; crouton only had sprinkling of cheese Scampi came with lots of fries, but the cold plate was swamped with salad with dressing why serve cold salad with hot food. Disappointingly the steak and ale pie was 'bought in ' and not home made and was sitting on a bed of vegetable and mashed potato in what seemed to be a cold soup plate, making it slightly difficult to eat. Vegetables properly cooked and good mash....pie neither tasted of beef or ale. Staff very pleasant and looked after us, but food!!!!!!! Not value for money today I 'm afraid but they have repaired the door closer since our last visit."

"I chose The Highwayman restaurant with high hopes, only to be let down by the main dish. The steak was overcooked, the peppercorn sauce lacked any peppercorns and flavor. I had to request my chips, sauce, and a steak knife. When I voiced my concerns to the waiter, he was dismissive and avoided us for the rest of the evening. It seems like The Highwayman may be able to deliver good food when it's not too busy. The more crowded it gets, the lower the quality of the food and service."

"Service was terrible. We had to keep going to the bar to ask for drinks, condiments, cutlery etc Large fish and chips was the same size as a co diners small except a few more chips.when this was mentioned to the waiter we were offered some extra chips. Both the fish chips were not freshly cooked and had obviously been cooked and kept warm for some time. Not crispy. Ketchup mayonnaise served in the same pot!! We went to the bar to pay and a customers dog was lying in front of the restaurant exit in full view of all the bar staff. He didn’t move the dog out of the way so we had to step over the dog to get out. No one asked him to move the dog from being a trip hazard. When paying the bill we asked that the discretionary 12% service charge be removed as we didn’t get good service. We were told they were not able to remove it so gave us a complementary drink instead but no apology. Walking to the car on checking the bill we noticed we had been charged for a bottle of Prosecco instead of a glass. Went back again no apology from the young man got the bottle refunded but still out of pocket on the service charge against the £32.95 bottle There was a lady behind the bar that had just started service who was the only person to offer an apology. Such a shame as we went regularly during the summer and food was always good. Also prices on website are not the same as on the restaurant menu. We Won’t rush back"
