The Chesil Rectory - Carta

In Winchester to see the Christmas MarketsStumbled upon this place by accident by in my goodness what a delightful treat.

We went for a day out in Winchester and found ourselves let down by so many things being closed, unavailable, etcFinding Chesil Rectory was a treat.

This restaurant has a fantastic location and exceptionally welcoming staff. They offer both á la carte and 2/3 course menus for diners to choose from. Ver carta

The food was delicious, the atmosphere very nice. Staff was very friendly, but not very well informed about the menu and maybe not very well trained. Still, we enjoyed our dinner very much.

We had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We were not rushed and were able to savor the food and atmosphere at our leisure. The desserts were especially noteworthy.

Great food. Seafood starters, pink lamb main, cheesecake then cheese and biscuits with recommended wine choices. Absolutely first class. Knowledgeable bar staff and waiting staff. Good banter with the men; young girls very quiet. Overall the perfect venue for our wedding anniversary celebration. We will be back Ver carta

Third time of eating here and again it was really good, then finished of the evening with cocktails at the bar upstairs, not only is the building at the top of the history table, the food, service, people, staff were really were really great. We booked this up months ago for my wife's birthday and it was really worth the drive from Essex. A must for everyone.

We had a lovely meal and a gracious reception on arrival. Young waiter was polite if a little inexperienced. My only tiny criticism would be that one guest’s coffee was delivered tepid (but was removed from bill without quibbling). The food was excellent, the wine good, the ambience was quiet and welcoming, the seating comfortable...I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a super meal in civilised surroundings.

No complaints about tasting menu it was good. Matching wines ok, first good, other less so. What I do not want to get to 9 with pre-booked tasting menu, table not ready, dumps up for half an hour near a very loud wedding party, normal menu handed us over when we have already chosen. A drink was offered after 10 minutes, but we didn't want an aperitif somewhere else with friends. No real excuse. It got better when we sit down. Ver carta
