I had the best Sunday carvery at this restaurant, hands down. The food tasted like it was homegrown, no need to say more. A truly enjoyable experience.

Visited for Sunday lunch after a quick phone call to book. Meal was a carvery with 4 meats on options and lots of home cooked veg. The food was delicious and the service friendly. Great value for money and will definitely be back.

25 of us booked in the comedian Tara went above and beyond what we had asked for she ordered in seafood and lobster for our seafood platter, other meals included steaks n lamb chops lasagne. Everyone said it was beautiful, n we can’t wait to do it again. Thanks to u all

The best meal I have had in such a long time, amazing service and I honestly felt so at home being here lovely woman and man who served cooked for us. Would highly recommend and so happy I stumbled across this lovely pub, I hope to visit again soon when next in the area. Just amazing!

Such friendly hosts, warm and welcoming. Had a lovely meal that we booked beforehand, and could choose anything we wanted, and it would be made for us! Absolutely amazing! We chose salmon fillet with fresh veg and fresh crab salad. The servings were plentiful and delicious. The pub itself is great too. Definitely worth a visit and they are definitely open! Ver carta

I called the pub/restaurant a week ahead to make a reservation for two and inform them that we are vegan. The kind lady who manages the establishment asked for our preferences, which surprised me, but we ultimately decided to leave it up to her. She prepared two tasty meals for us, one centered around a mushroom pie and the other a nut roast, both served with a creative mixed salad, corn on the cob, plenty of chips, and thick vegetable gravy. We highly recommend dining at this establishment.

Myself and my family went to The Comedian for my birthday meal. We had heard excellent reports about their steaks and we were not disappointed . Beautifully cooked steaks and all the trimmings and fresh vegetables . My wife has the fish which was stuffed with prawns and presented beautifully and she said it was delicious. Lovely homely surroundings and excellent service from Tara and Dave. This little pub is a hidden gem and highly recommended. NB The pub has put into place all the social distancing regulations required and we felt very safe going in there .

We were recommended to try The Comedian by TripAdvisor. This unassuming pub, located on a main road, exceeded our expectations. Despite a rough day with the weather and traveling, stepping into the establishment felt like entering my grandma's cozy parlor, decorated with horse brasses, tea pots, vases, and comfortable sofas. Upon our arrival in the evening, we were warmly greeted by the 84-year-old proprietor, Davy, who seated us and provided excellent service throughout our meal. Despite the humble appearance, the food was exceptional. I enjoyed a delicious 16oz Sirloin steak with vegetables, mushrooms, onion rings, homemade chips, and pepper sauce.
