"It seems the restaurant positions itself at a certain standard but fails to deliver on that promise. If they simplified their menu to focus on traditional pub offerings with fewer items but executed them better, it would significantly improve the experience. They label some dishes as "pub classics"—like an aubergine miso, which feels somewhat out of place—and then charge premium prices for items like a £60 steak or a £31 beef Wellington. Overall, the menu feels disjointed, and most dishes come across as lacking any real care or thought. They simply look and taste like uninspired food. While the portion sizes are large, it's just a lot of mediocre food, which isn't appealing. I ordered bruschetta topped with aubergine and feta paste. It consisted of two slices of bread, which were sizeable but overwhelmingly garlicky and not very enjoyable. When I inquired about the feta, I was told it was mixed with the aubergine paste, but I couldn't taste any feta at all and ended up leaving a slice behind. For my main course, I chose the pea and parmesan risotto, and I added salmon, thinking it would be a nice complement. However, I expected that if they were suggesting this pairing, they would balance the flavors accordingly. Unfortunately, the dish was unappetizing both in taste and presentation; I left half of it untouched. Again, it was a large portion of food that simply didn't deliver on flavor. It felt as though the generous serving sizes were an attempt to compensate for the lack of taste. I've noticed several five-star reviews and wonder how this can be; perhaps it’s just my partner and me who feel this way. I left the restaurant feeling overpowered by garlic and wishing I could have added salt to make the food more interesting. That’s never a good sign. As someone who usually finishes all their meals, I left half of each dish. Regrettably, I think I’ll be passing on this place in the future. I've given it multiple chances, only to have the same underwhelming experience each time."

Only have good things to say! Lots of delicious things to choose from on the menu, both me and my mum really enjoyed our lunch and the service was great too.

Great food. We all had starters which we forgot to photo as we tucked in too quickly. They were amazing, as were the mains. I would highly recommend and we will be returning.

I had a truly enjoyable meal today at the Cross Keys. The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding. I didn’t catch our waitress's name, but she was wonderful. I highly recommend visiting this place. We will definitely return!

Had a fantastic meal here for our Wedding Anniversary. The food tasted amazing, and was cooked exactly how we asked. The service was brilliant, with the servers being highly attentive. The restaurant is also beautiful. Priced as expected, in my opinion. Highly recommend for a lovely evening out! Ver carta

I phoned ahead to book a table as I couldn't find a booking system online. Friendly welcome from all staff. Interior is lovely. The food was amazing, good quality ingredients were used. The only issue was it was very warm, one lady asked to move tables somewhere cooler, but the whole pub was heated well. It's not something you would expect people to complain about, but when eating a large meal, being hot can be uncomfortable.

A perfect restaurant that literally ticks every box. A bar area you can eat in. A restaurant area, and a garden area. Service was exceptionally fast and food came out the fastest I've ever seen ! Michelle the server was spot on. The prices are reasonable too, with the portions the correct size to match. Slight small criticism.... clean the toilets more often and fix the broken tiles in the ladies. Understandably this is just decor and doesn't affect the service or experience. I would definitely come back here again, and would thoroughly recommend it.

We move to UK 2 years ago, since then we are trying to eat a good English food. It's the best restaurant so far!! Absolutely amazing, if you want to eat a nice English food. We will back for sure and the next time we will visit it in Sunday to try the Sunday roast!! The only thing that maybe could be improve is that they was a bit insistent to order our food asking us every 2-3 minutes, we need a bit more time because we need to read the whole menu and translate it to my children and wife that doesn't speak English very well yet. But again we will return for sure the food is amazing. Ver carta

For the first time at this pub, we left disappointed. Normally, the food is excellent, but tonight my husband's burger was undercooked in spots. When our dessert arrived, the ice cream was already partially melted, making it seem like the bowls had been left out too long before being served. I understand that the staff can't control other patrons, but our entire experience was marred by two unruly children running around the garden and screaming at the top of their lungs. It would have been nice if a staff member had asked that group to be more considerate of the other diners. We usually enjoy visiting the Cross Keys for celebrations and special treats, but today was very disappointing.

We decided to give a go to this British restaurant after one of my good friend's recommendation. We booked a table for our anniversary and I wanted to try something new, nice and where we could enjoy our special moment together. We could have not chosen a better place. Right off the bat we liked the aesthetics with thatched roof and that atmosphere of a serene traditional English pub. Inside it looks welcoming with ample dining area, the place was full but at the same time relaxing. We sat down and despite being so busy we got our drinks pretty soon. There is a nice selection of starters and meat dishes. We went for salmon to start with and it was delicious. My wife went for chicken cooked w...

"Absolutely average restaurant. Dirty bamboo table mats and super dirty windows, kinda sad to look out of them. Impatient service, who under 6 minutes 5 times came back trying to pressure me to take my order. I was confused as I thought it was a restaurant not a fast food place. Silly me who used to live in Japan though the menu is just like there, with pictures. How wrong I was...So getting my phone to have a look at their website, what kinda different that in the restaurant menu card one. When I tried to ask for reconditions, I didn't get any, she just straight away took the last what I asked. The steamed algae was very nice, but my noodle soup was a big surprise, as I have no idea what's roasted (burned) pepper and massive chunks of onions doing there? It's supposed to be sea food, but instead just some burned vegetables scared with frozen octopus, mussels and mini calamari rings poured up with chicken broth. So yeah, kinda disappointing. Drink wise I asked the waitress do they have any tonic water as it isn't listed on the menu card, she looked at me like I am a weirdo. I asked for Roku gin what is my favourite. On the receipt was counted as an extra pound because Japanese. Lol, no comment. Getting the drinks, from other restaurants you get the spirit on the rocks in the glass and front of you they pouring the mixer drink from the mini bottle. Here not, just straight away together as it comes. Oh and don't bother asking without lemon, because you are getting one either way. So Akasaka restaurant did not become my favourite one. Once and last. Easily can be forgotten. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £20–30 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4"
