Was on holiday in the area and went to this pub a few times. The food I had was great. Crispy Pork Belly with requested cranberry sauce and Roast of the day were firm favourites. Staff pleasant and helpful.

great eating, good atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the jalapeño burger. it was massiw (see photo.) good selection of beer. highly recommended, but can be occupied at the weekend so likely during booking. but nice and quiet during the week.

The service was excellent, especially from the older staff members who were polite and very helpful. The younger servers were a bit awkward, but I suppose that's to be expected given their age. Overall, I really like this place. It has a lovely atmosphere, the prices are reasonable, and the food is truly delicious!

The restaurant serves excellent home-cooked pub food at reasonable prices, and there's often a lively atmosphere. They offer classic pub dishes like homemade pies and roasts. We've consistently enjoyed everything we've ordered. If you're planning to visit on the weekend, I recommend making a reservation, as it can get quite busy.

I am truly impressed with the quality of the food served here. The menu is now just the right size; it used to offer too many options, which made it seem like the meals were pre-prepared, though I could be mistaken. An atmospheric olde world pub ideal for children and dog owners alike. An extensive menu with a great veggie choice and a little menu for your canine companions. Our pup wolfed down his sausages and gravy. It was a sunny day when we visited and the outdoor area looked very inviting, especially the upper level. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended. Will definitely be returning with the rest of the family.

Yet another Edit, family party on 30/12/12. Eleven of us. Standard of service much improved , though it was not as busy as has been previously. Particularly nice Sea Bass , though most enjoyed their selections. I will revert to four stars Later edit (30/12/10), its a year since last visit, again for a family party. Food a little disappointing for some people, eg soup was barely lukewarm, some complained of meat too tough, but again I had the excellent Liver and Bacon ! We have been going to this pub for many years and are now thrilled to see that it is now back to its best. The staff and owners are friendly and helpful, the pub itself is cosy, comfortable and clean. Loads of different seating areas, including a lovely patio area to the side,a joy in the Summeer and if you have pets great for a quick stop for a bite to eat. Also has easy acccess for wheelchairs and they are incredibly accomodating with seating for wheelchairs. The joy of this pub is the food, plenty of choice from quick bites to a fine dining experience.
