The Flying Childers

LOVE this pub. My favourite in Derbyshire. We had to sit outside because of obvious BUT service and friendly welcome was warm as usual. Thank you.

This is a wonderful pub. Lovely food and a nice roaring fire. The perfect stop off on our walk. Great selection of beers. I’m just gutted we couldn’t stay longer! A must visit

Gorgeous afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings. The cakes were to die for! I really enjoyed the smoked salmon starter too. The lady who served us was just lovely. Definitely worth the money. Would love to come again at Christmas :

The service was impeccable, the young man waiting on tables is a credit to the Chatsworth household team. Thank you for a lovely afternoon tea. The flying Childers is well worth a visit, good value for money in perfect a surrounding.

We go out as group once a fortnight and have visited several pubs in the area for lunch. Everything we ordered was delicious and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend the Childers. The best pub food of all the places we’ve visited. Will definitely return.

Great choice of fab vegetarian food and well priced drinks including cocktails .. laid back proper local pub with no sirs and graces… really real look great for walkers and dogs alike with free homemade treats for your fur baby and toys to borrow… woukd recommend 100

This is an absolutely gorgeous pub. Small, unspoilt, award winning for its unspoiled qualities. There was a roaring log fire when we visited, the landlord was friendly and attentive. Great beer and food was simple but definitely creative. We realised on arrival that we’d visited before, a few years ago. I would urge folks to make a special effort to visit.

This was birthday treat from my family. I was not disappointed. The staff were very attentive and could explain what afternoon tea was all about. We started with a starter which was most which was delicious. We then went on some very tasty sandwiches, chicken Cornation, ham and wholegrain mustard. The scones fruit and plain and served with homemade strawberry Jam and clotted cream. The mini desserts tray was so yummy and well thought out. Chocolate and cherry tart, mango and white chocolate all went well together. Finally was served beautiful shared dessert that I took home. The teas were refreshing. Thanks for really lovely experience.

I have lived in Derbyshire all my life and of course, this is a case of ‘what’s on your doorstep’ you hardly ever consider! My friend arranged for myself and another friend to meet up and discuss all things countryside and veer onto other topics, at a rate of 19 to the dozen as you do when you have not met up for a while. Walking into this little place was like stepping into a storybook … it has an astonishing atmosphere I felt I was walking into somewhere I’d been before and it was so wonderful and cozy.
