As per usual exceptional fresh food and great choices of fresh fish. Generous portions, prepared by people who understand food and dont look for ways to scrimp.

Overall very impressed, restaurant was busy for mid week night yet staff were efficient and friendly, food was good, in particular the Catalan fish stew, and definitely value for money, well worth a visit.

The food as always was excellent! In particular the Catalonian Fish stew was divine. It is rare to find bith high quality fish and excellent beer. The Sidepocket for a Toad (Tring) was both superbly kept and really good value for money. As usual the service was excellent. Ver carta

A fantastic lunch at a pub we've not been in for a few years now. Excellent value set lunch menu which was tasty, filling and just all round very good. The pie was excellent as was the sticky toffee pudding. The two ladies who served us were friendly, very efficient and looked after us. A really pleasant visit.

Amazing Caribbean Buffet delivered to our door by the Horse and Jockey at Ravensden for a family event. The food was fantastic, jerk chicken and pork, red snapper all complimented by amazing salads, sides and Tropical Cheesecake. The menu was specially created for us and the service was outstanding. The family was suitably wowed and made for a really special event. Highly recommended!

I had a fantastic dinner on a Friday evening at this restaurant. The staff and service were excellent, as always, and the dinner was delicious. We had three courses, with the main dishes being Ribeye Steak and Dressed Crab. The entire experience was enjoyable, just like it always is. This restaurant is always my top choice for dining out, and I consistently have an excellent experience. I highly recommend paying it a visit, as I do so regularly. Ver carta

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were welcomed by friendly staff who continued to provide excellent service throughout the evening. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection, and we found the prices to be very reasonable for the quality of the food and wines. Whether you're a couple looking for a romantic evening or a group seeking a great dining experience, I highly recommend the horse and jockey. The food at this restaurant was outstanding: expertly cooked, gorgeously plated, and great value for the price. Every dish we ordered was fantastic, and we were a group of six. The halibut I had was one of the best fish dishes I've ever tasted. The pork belly had a crispy skin and was perfectly roasted. The desserts were all delicious and the portions were very generous. The atmosphere was cozy and appealing, and the service was enthusiastic and extremely friendly. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience that surpassed our expectations.

Although I usually have one of the fish meals for which this gastro Pub is renowned, today I instead tried the onglet 8oz steak with a pepper sauce, watercress and chips at £22.00 and was not disappointed. I ordered the steak blue at which level it was served and was delicious. The worst that I can say is that the watercress was perhaps more of a garnish than a full serving but the steak more than than made up for this. Speaking to the chef afterwards I was warned that this cut of beef was best served on the rarish side as overcooking could turn it into leather. As it was it melted in my mouth. Superb. My colleague had the half lobster at £30 and said that too was excellent. Ver carta
