"Basic, ‘lazy’ unoriginal food; great for those people who are more than happy with a pizza or a burger and chips and are not too discerning. We booked a table for my birthday as friends were visiting. The menu is nothing special, consisting of the usual meat pie, numerous types of burgers, fish and chips etc. Hubby opted for the ribs which came with a very dry cornbread (he thought it was stuffing of some kind! My friend’s hubby chose the liver and onions which comprised of a slab of liver, mash and half an onion. He like us, assumed the liver would be seasoned and sliced, not a whole slab served up. He said he found it unappetising. Vegetarian options are very limited; veggie burger, veggie sausage, veggie lasagne or butternut squash and chickpea dhal. I opted for the latter (as veggie burgers and sausages I can pick up at the supermarket for a couple of pound so why would I pay over the odds for something so unimaginative? The dhal tasted like it contained a Patak sauce from a jar with a few chickpeas thrown in and a chunk of roasted squash. I couldn’t taste any garlic. The meal wasn’t awful just average. I’ve made dhal at home many times and mine tastes far better. Longer to prepare but better. We don’t eat out that often as choices in pubs seem to be limited to so called British Classics, mainly burgers or anything else which is quick and easy to heat up. I do understand that it is a case of supply and demand and that unfortunately a lot of customers nowadays have very low expectations when eating out. Many think a burger in a bun with some fried chips is wonderful. Sorry this was not a meal to remember for us."

"Once again, The Garden Tea Rooms has exceeded expectations! I truly believe that it doesn't get much better than this tea room. I ordered the chilli and cheese hot dog with cheesy nachos topped with salad, salsa, guacamole, and sour cream. The portions were generous, with 2 plump Lincolnshire sausages that were absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. My partner had the pork and apple stuffing brioche with cheesy potatoes and pigs in blankets, which was a huge meal. This hidden gem of a restaurant deserves all the recognition it receives. Despite the abundance of tea rooms nowadays, The Garden Tea Rooms always comes out on top in our opinion!"

"Table for 7 on a Friday evening. Lovely, helpful, attentive staff, who made recommendations from the menu (not really required for seasoned curry eaters, but appreciated nonetheless) Starting with freshly made crisp poppadoms, followed by the nicest tandoori lamb chops I have ever had (flavoursome, not over cooked but chargrilled, exceptionally meaty just fab in fact), with mains being spiced to the required heat requested by all of us, and good naans and rice to accompany, this was a fist class meal at a fair price. Well done Everest Xpress!"

"Sadly having to give 1 out of 5 due to the terrible experience with delivery. Food was delivered an hour and a half late. Was basically lied to when enquired by phone, ranging from its out for delivery, it’s left and should be there in 5 minutes, it hasn’t left yet as it’s on the hot plate, it’s leaving in 15 minutes, to the driver was delivering it and had a car accident and had to go to hospital. I sincerely hope the latter was not a lie, it’s a terrible one if it was, but I hope the driver was ok if genuine. Asked for a refund and to cancel the order and told could not get one as no one there to refund me. Food finally arrived. The food was actually really nice, but we were eating it so close to going to bed for the evening due to it’s late arrival, so even though the food was nice we didn’t really enjoy it. Suggest just honest with customers, if there’s a delay, explain why, we will understand. Will not use again based on this experience."

"Ethan's, or Damon's Japanese brother, is a really nice place to eat with a group of friends and or family. If you're lucky enough to land the head chef, you're in for a treat. We had a great time watching Simon perform awesome tricks for us. Everything he cooked was brilliant too. But I have to say, I could cook all the Teppanyaki to the same standard at home. But maybe I'm biased (also a head chef). Simon did a good job of correcting the two mistakes made when ordering, and was very engaging. He turned what could have been a negative in to a positive. I really appreciated that, and the extra lengths he went to, to keep us entertained. My one heavy criticism would be of the meat potions. I know from my own experience that for a couple of pounds, you can buy a large duck breast, especially in bulk. So I was disappointed that the duck breast was clearly on the very small side. But that didn't take away from the fact that every other aspect of the meal was excellent. I will DEFINITELY go back. Other than that, the Sake machine was broken, yet they worked around it. The desert of deep fried, vanilla ice cream was incredible, as Simon said it would be."
