The Magnum Restaurant Bar

Just a simple supper, ribeye followed by cheese. Steak was over seasoned.

I've walked past the Magnum almost every day for ten years and never gone in. What a find! Best belly pork I've ever had. Great service; nice friendly people. We're spoiled for choice in this area now, but the Magnum is right up there with the best.

The Magnum serves great quality pub food. Hearty portions of well balanced dishes. We had steak and chips (beautifully done) and fresh fish with fantastic side dishes. Waiting staff were friendly and helpful, food came quickly considering it was so busy.

I was recommended this restaurant not disappointed. It was left to me to find somewhere to eat after out meeting. The service was friendly food excellent. All the choices around the table looked tasted good. Nothing left on the palates!. Nice atmosphere luckily a short walk in very windy weather from George St.

We had a lovely time, the food was really good I had the duck cappaccio and pork belly my husband had the soup and chicken burger. The service was excellent friendly not pushy and really good recommendations. The lady who looked after us knew the menu well and helped us selected an excellent dessert to share. Would recommend to anyone wanted good food at a good price served by great people.

Lovely dinner with our son and daughter in law who were over from America. Lovely ambience and friendly staff, good food and very cosy. We have been to The Magnum on many occasions whether for dinner with a couple of friends and in larger groups to celebrate a birthday and have never been disappointed. Food is always a delight-local produce and beautifully served. Afterward the bar is available for after dinner drinks.

Dinner with friends before joining Hogmanay Street Party. Menu felt slightly restricted compared to normal but choices on menu still allowed friends to taste good Scottish fare. We all opted for the Daube of beef and it was an excellent choice the beef was beautifully cooked and the jus complimented it well. Vegetable accompaniment was limited and somewhat lost , would have benefited from being able to add additional vegetable sides.

This was our first visit to the restaurant having passed a few times and thought it looked attractive. The booking was at 6 pm, and the restaurant was quiet when we arrived so we had a choice of tables. The initial drinks service was rather slow, but thereafter the service was very good and we had a particularly friendly waiter. The food was excellent, interesting and well presented, and at around £40 per head good value. Increasingly I find that portion size is a very effective indicator of quality in an eating place a starter that is so large you have to leave either half of it or no room to enjoy the main course is not impressive. By that measure, The Magnum is definitely in the top drawe...
