"After goodness knows how many years too many! my wife and I returned to The Man of Kent for an early dinner as we did not want to cook. For a pub, the seasonal menu is quite adventurous and we found the food tasty and very well presented. I started with the crispy duck salad which was fresh and tasty; my wife had a generous helping of whitebait with a ? tarragon mayonnaise, also very good. We both opted for the ribeye steak for mains. I have to say that the steak was not the best we have ever eaten, variable thickness, rather overcooked but the accompanying jus was great as were the shallots, spinach and fondant potatoes. The quantity was very generous and we could barely touch the side of carrots and green beans. We had a pint of Timothy Taylor bitter plus a G to start with, then 2 glasses of red wine a very nice Carignan from the South of France. An issue with my original red oxidised open too long was speedily resolved. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere in the pub very warm plenty of local regulars. We just could not mange a dessert, alas. We paid £66 for a very pleasant evening, and promised ourselves to return with a much shorter gap!"

Had lunch here in Monday. Lovely old 16th century pub, so be careful of the low ceilings and small door. Nice warm fire and very friendly bar staff. Food was lovely and well presented. Menu was made up of traditional pub favorites and also a few unusual items. The mushroom and spinach baklava is highly recommended. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

A really warm welcome with lovely friendly staff. Cosy feel and great atmosphere .The landlord/lady very helpful and accommodating for our group of 12 walkers plus 3 dogs. Evenoffered to refill our water bottles which was very sweet . Food excellent and reasonably priced . I little more choice would be nice but it was done very well. We will definitely be back.

We were in the area and fancied a spot of lunch so looked up some nearby places and decided on The Man of Kent.So happy we did. What an excellent pub. Independent with happy, friendly staff and an ideal lunch menu. Yeah, about that menu. Do not look any further than the homemade Chicken Kiev. OMG it is to die for. Undoubtedly THE greatest Chicken Kiev in Kent if not the UK. Incredible. Thanks for a great visit. Ver carta

Called in for a quick drink with dog in tow pub was buzzing and a very inviting roaring fire and great selection of drinks was just what we needed. Met some lovely locals and very friendly landlord and staff. We were so comfortable we decided to stay for dinner and it was a real treat. Very nicely presented and delicious, sadly too full to have a dessert. Very pleased we discovered this lovely friendly proper country pub and will definitely be coming back!

What a great place for lunch. The sun was shining and I needed to celebrate two years (to the day) of retirement ! Being a Thursday, arriving at 13.00 hours wss not a problem as there were plenty of tables still available. Fridays and Saturdays may be a different story and you might be wise to book. A pint of Harveys and a cloudy apple cider saw us to our table and some 15 or 20 minutes later along came the food. It was delicious and the portions were a sensible size didn't leave the table feeling uncomfortably full.

We go to the MOK regularly and our children are always very welcome- their favourite thing is the fish pond and spotting trout in the river alongside the pub. Food here is excellent and there is always a roaring fire in the pub through winter. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Kids menu is good and the kids roast is enormous! It’s a small cosy pub so if your child is running around they risk getting hot food land on them hence why you’d be better bringing colouring etc and keeping them at the table! Ruby the dog is an added attraction too. Definitely worth a visit!! Ver carta

We booked a table for 13.30 for 5 people. It was a treat for my mother in law as she came to the area as a child hop picking. Our welcome was warm and we were shown our table. We ordered drinks and ordered our food. We ordered a range of food from their Autumn menu. I had the leek and potato soup, it was gorgeous, piping hot and in a very generously sized bowl. I then had the fish pie, never have I eaten a fish pie that tasted so fresh. It was beautiful and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. We’ve eaten here a few times but the general consensus amongst our party was that it was the best meal we had ever had there. Thank you. Xx

We arrived on a Sunday (often considered a family day at 4.30pm. On arrival my 18months old was very pleased to see her 2year old buddy: they ran up and down the pub making a lot of noise in their excitement to see each other: and so we were asked to stop them running about and sit them down: we did what they asked, even though it wasn’t in the politest way. We understood it was a little over excitement! We then sat with them in high chairs while they had snacks and played with some toys we had bought along: we spent at least £100 while there and as we left; around an hour later, who I assume was the front of house woman followed us outside to tell us we were not welcome there with our child...
