Excellent food and service. Staff particularly helpful and friendly.

Beef was well over cooked,gravy had so much salt in it,that we had to leave are meals

We dine at the Moody Mare quite regularly, whether with family or friends, and we've never been let down. Both we and our guests always leave satisfied.

Very pleasant ambience and service with a smile. Food reasonably priced and good selection. Nice having the small plates option for all. The steaks looked inviting.

First visit, though have driven past many times, and was very impressed. The staff were incredibly friendly even though it looks like it’s very much a ‘locals’ pub we didn’t feel awkward. Food was very nice good portions the Scotch Egg I had for starter was especially delicious. We will definitely return Ver carta

The food was exceptional, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The only downside was that we were seated in the Yurt/Tent, despite having requested a table in the main building when we made our reservation. While this would have been manageable, it was open to the garden, and as the evening went on, it became quite chilly. Additionally, when smokers gathered outside, the cigarette smoke drifted into our seating area. Although the staff turned on the heaters, it still felt cold. It's unfortunate, as we genuinely enjoyed our time at the Moody Mare and plan to return.

If you're a vegetarian, you might want to look elsewhere. I ordered the goat cheese and beetroot salad as a starter, as the only main option for vegans was a vegan burger. I’m not a vegan, so I found that quite limiting. I expected the salad to be a main-sized portion since everyone else was ordering mains, but it arrived as a starter. I had to send it back to have it doubled in size, which was not ideal. There was a lack of creativity in the dish; it could have really benefited from some added tomatoes or cucumbers. The meat and fish dishes seemed to be enjoyed by those who ordered them, although a few people mentioned that their meals were served cold.

Been going to The Moody Mare for many years now and last nights food was very disappointing. Garlic bread was soggy, not crisp as it should be. A weak Pimms arrived with no fruit except a lime. The scotch egg was inedible. The yolk was solid, white very firm and the meat part had a very strange taste. It didn't taste, feel or look fresh. I couldn't eat it! Even my rustic chips didn't taste nice. I normally don't leave food so for me to eat about 5% speaks volumes. Our server was very professional, attentive and friendly, as were the other staff. No complaints there. I've always recommended this place to friends and family but for now, I shall not be returning. I am hoping it's a one off! Ver carta
