"this is a pretty little restaurant with some covered tables from the back and more in the garden for good weather. I was booked alone and short-term, so I got the last table under the cover, but that wasn't as good as in the main restaurant. the personal is very friendly and responsive. so were the other customers, some of which were clearly regular! it has a really warm and relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the meatball star and a pizza that both were delicious, as dessert. the three courses and a glass of wine came to £34, which is very good for a good quality eating and atmosphere."

"We came here after a walk in peaks, however after sitting down we had to move as another group came over and their dog lunged and was aggressive to our dog who had been sat there. We moved to another table which was on a slant, as it was the only one available. After getting our drinks and ordering food we sat back down. However within moments, both of our soft drinks had toppled over coating one of us completely. A waitress saw this, however did not offer any assistance (providing a cloth or towels) but she did say she would replace our drinks. However the bar man, Steve, came to us and told us he would not replace our drinks. He told us that they were not responsible for our drinks and we pointed out that we were sat at their table which they had placed on the slant, with no coasters or anything to prevent them falling. Whilst I can somewhat understand, Steve was incredibly hostile and rude. Offered no apology and was unflinching on his position. In the end we decided to leave, not because they would not replace our drinks, but because of the way we were spoken to. I asked if Steve was the owner or manager and was advised he was not, so I'm not sure where he got the gall to be so rude to customers. The poor waitresses clearly looked uncomfortable. If Steve had apologised said that this had happened before but unfortunately he wasn't able to replace we would have somewhat understood. However Steve was rude, extremely hostile and aggressive as if we had walked in and demanded free drinks. We had our food refunded and left. If the owners or management care about customer service I would suggest considering whether Steve is the type of person who should be customer facing. We had spent £40 on food that they had to refund, which feels like it's counter productive considering to replace two post mix drinks would cost the venue at most 50p."

"Nice little pub/cafe. Sat outside after a nice Hike up Mam Tor and across the Greay Ridge. Unfortunately they wouldn't let us eat our sandwiches which we had packed. Understandable though as they serve food. If you like cider you will like the one in the attached photo of this review. The ales also have very cool names. My mate had a doctor something, he said it was nice. I did want to try the reaper but also wanted to move off and eat my packed lunch. Very nice toilets, friendly staff. Recommended if you're ever in Hope."

"brilliant small square with beautiful seating outside. around 1330 we advised, as we hoped, to avoid the lunch break (castleton is a busy city this time of the year). top notch little space, decent prices. also nice to see the cook venture to get the ingredients for our lunch, and tell us that the food is freshly cooked and ordered. my pastrami sandwich was delicious. other half had a sweet kartoffel with halloumi with some other bits and boobs that again, was delicious. all the employees were great, nothing was too disturbing. highly recommended!"

"really welcome w friendly caffe. what makes it easier to get here when most caffes are closed before the place early and out of the food, this beautiful little gem is open until 5 o'clock and with a delicious selection of homemade foods. very beautiful ambiente, servier area inspiring, recording, maps, flyer and an exhibition of landscape photos, w walker cyclist community oriented and just upright friendly. so a pleasant place to be, beautiful seating also inside and outside, bicycle stand and locks to rent, water for dogs, right skies thanks to quality! so many use single-users plastic fed pussies and plastic lids out there) not here! moreover, delicious cakes and ice cream what is not to love! thank you for being there!"
