"We really wanted to enjoy this meal more than we did, although the staff and service were great, so friendly and attentive, the food was not as good as it could have been. Starters were excellent, but the main meals just didn’t hit the spot, the emphasis appeared to be on presentation and volume (HUGE portions) rather than quality and attention to detail. As an example, the mussels I had were either not as fresh as advertised or had been overdone as they were chewy and tasteless, many of the shells were broken which meant the sauce was gritty, and I wasn’t given a finger bowl or separate dish for the shells; I did inform the waitress that the mussels had not been good, however she did not ask for any other information or feedback for the kitchen. I had eaten less than half of them (and that was with the help of my fellow diners) but was not offered a reduction on the bill. The desserts were lovely, however. I would probably give them another try in the future, as it was not awful but if it were to be a similar experience then I would not return. Maybe we were just unlucky on this occasion."

"This is one of our favourite places to eat. The family booked a table for of us. All the staff greeted us when we went inside. The restaurant is light and welcoming and makes you feel at home. The ambiance is just perfect and...the service excellent. Food is wonderful. Have been before end never been disappointed. We love it. Our server was Andrea and she has always been happy, smiling and very professional. Nothing is too much trouble. She is a credit to her profession! Thank you! Jill and Nigel Meeres Bexhill"

"beautiful gastro-pub, beautiful decor, friendly staff in a country location. my only negatiw is that the acoustic is not great, so it is one of those places that can feel very loud when it is full. many beautiful seats in the open. on the really positive eating was innovatiw and absolutely delicious, and there was a good weinlist with some beautiful local weeps, of which there are many possibilities in the opposite would definitely recommend."

"The Bull at Benenden did not disappoint, even with COVID restrictions in place. A table of 6 friends from our book club was set aside for us, with all necessary precautions taken to ensure our safety and comfort. The staff was welcoming and helped to make the experience less daunting. The tables were well spaced out and all staff members were wearing face masks. The food was as delicious as always. Overall, a fantastic dining experience at this village pub."

"we're here several times, but every time we've been disappointed. we live locally, so it would love to dive more often. three times we invited friends, but we apologized at the end of the meal. the pub itself is beautiful and the personal attention. but we let it eat down, although the pizza and burgers are always good. the parts also seem to have improved for some elements. the rest of the menu is quite hit and miss. we had strange Brat dinner crushed flower coal cheese and Mediterranean vegetables; a jam-roly-poly that compottes as swiss roll on cold custard with some; a chocolate torte meringue that we expected to be a chocolate version of lemon melisse, but turned out to be on top with crushed meringue. I could go on, but believe that until they stop experimenting, I can't see how the dinge improve enough to bring us back. please have some honest taste tests before they set out a new menu."
