"Great location, we were planning to moor at the Hardley drainage mill but it was full by the time we got there. Decided to stop here so we could make use of the electricity, as the BA moorings a bit further along haven't got power. Had a couple of drinks and moored up here for the evening, lovely friendly staff who helped us get sorted with an electricity card and whatnot. I had a bit of an accident outside (totally my own fault, fell over and badly broke my wrist, completely sober I should add!! and the staff were incredibly helpful in making sure I was taken care of and that our boat was looked after until we were able to get back from the hospital. Really appreciated their kindness! Thanks folks! Price per person: £1–10 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

We stumbled upon a unique pub with slightly quirky staff and patrons. The establishment had a simple decor, but the staff were welcoming and the beer selection was impressive. Rating: Service 3, Atmosphere 2.

We visited three pubs by bicycle in the Cantley Strumpshaw area. One a lovely old pub by the river. The next one a major food factory in Cantley and the last a nice village pub but too expensive in Strumpshaw. The Reedcutters for us wins hands down. It 's most certainly a take us as you find us pub but the staff and the friendly locals make this a proper pub and probably the only one we 'd want to go back to. We didn 't get to experience their food but we 'll be going back to give that a try. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
