"We hadn 't been here for many years and have been reluctant to try it more recently since it changed hands, and we 'd heard some devious reviews. However, we decided to try it for an anniversary meal, close to home. Pleased we didn 't listen to the reviews. The food was lovely, decent portions and very tasty. The service was excellent. We hate to be rushed, so when we finished our starter (a large antipasti sharing platter! we needed a bit of a breather and so asked for some time. We were listened to and given a decent break between courses. Everything we asked for was provided promptly and staff were all very friendly. We even got a surprise 'happy anniversary ' dessert with a candle, which was a lovely thoughtful touch. A couple of small things could have improved the experience a little. The atmosphere was lacking, but I this was largely as a result of so few people being there. Sadly, I think people have listened to the reviews, so for a Saturday night, it was dead. This isn 't the restaurant 's fault though. The background music wasn 't quite right for a Saturday evening in 'Italy '. And the toilets are passed their best and need to be better maintained, and stocked with toilet paper. We 'd really like to see this local business do well and hope they 'll work on the things that can be fairly easily improved and that local people will return here. We really enjoyed our first child-free meal out for many weeks and will return perhaps for a lunchtime treat with the children in the coming weeks."

"We did try getting in here last Saturday, but the queue was out on the pavement and after waiting a few minutes a very apologetic member of staff came out and said it was likely to be 35 to 40 minutes, so we ending up at Five Guys Peterborough instead. Although it was disappointing we didn't get in, the queue speaks for itself, the food is superb! We visited this Saturday a bit later (18:45) and we were greeted immediately and shown to a table. We were primarily looked after by Nathan and he is a credit to the Company, he couldn't have been any more helpful and friendly. He spent the better part of five minutes taking us through the menu and making recommendations, based on what our preferences were. His advice was absolutely perfect. We shared a chilli squid and vegan short rib, then had firecracker chicken and beef donburt. We don't normally do dessert, but upon Nathan's recommendation we had chocolate and ginger cheesecake and banana katsu. Drinks were ginger no jito and blueberry spice. I had previously been to the Wagamama in Lincoln, where I'd been equally impressed with the food, hence wanting to go as a couple and enjoy the experience. As mentioned the food is outstanding, the fire cracker chicken is already sat right at the very top of my goto dishes, I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys hot spicy food, you will not be disappointed! I was also offered an off the menu version of the katsu chicken, more chilli, which be on our next visit. Other than the food, what made.this such an enjoyable experience was the attention we were given by Nathan, he was patient, engaging and attentive. When all is said and done, you can go somewhere and eat the most amazing food, but if the service is lousy you don't go back. To go somewhere and get first class service and amazing food is getting rare. Speed of food to the table was also perfect with the squid arriving within five minutes. Wagamama Peterborough You've nailed it 100% Update 03/12/22: Visited Peterborough restaurant again 19:00 on a Saturday, once again a warm welcome upon entering and immediately given choices of tables to sit at. Menus and drinks arrived very quickly. Our food order was taken within five minutes of arriving and was on the table within 10/15 minutes. One of the starters we ordered was prawn lollipops, two of these had fused together when cooking in the pan/on griddle and when my wife pulled them apart the sections of prawn that had been overlapping were grey and uncooked. We wanted another drink, so when one of the staff were passing we ordered another drink each and my wife asked if the prawns could be put back in the pan for a minute. We were told they couldn't be undercooked as they are precooked before being seared, nevertheless the prawns we had were grey in a strip were the two had been touching. They did however take them away and replace them within 10 minutes, no drinks arrived though, so when the prawns were returned we re ordered drinks and asked for the desert menu. Another 10 minutes and still no drinks or menu, so had to ask again. After this everything ran smoothly again. They have now introduced pay at table using a QR code in the too righthand corner of the paper placemats on the table. This takes you to a secure Web page were you manually enter your card number, expiry date and security code, along with your table number and email address. It works okay, but would be far better executed if it facilitated google pay, PayPal etc. Once again the food was superb, other than prawngate, we felt rather disappointed with the service this time, especially as it was not particularly, or overly busy. Obviously this was probably a one off and certainly will not stop us from returning."

"We visited Turtle Bay in Peterborough tonight for a special occasion and it was a complete disappointment from start to finish. When we arrived we were told to head to the bar, we were stood there for 10 mins and no one looked at us to serve us. When our table was ready, we were given two circle tables for 6 completely anti social and hard to talk. This was smoothed over by a bottle of Prosecco thank you. When our starters came, 2 were forgotten about and you could clearly see the chef having an issue with the fact he hadn’t made two of our starters….so half of us had finished our starters before others had theirs. When mains came, we asked for knife and forks, they took so long to come our meals were cold at this stage it was pointless sending them back to be reheated. The above made worse by the fact we were sat right in a busy walk way, right next to the restaurant door that was kept open 90% of the time we were in there. Not only this, but one main came wrong and the Mac and cheese had zero sauce and was ultimately just cooked pasta. A glass of water and a portion of chips as a side for the main was also forgotten. The other (warm) food was great, and cocktails too. When we had the bill delivered, there was a service charge that we took off but I don’t think this even justified the poor experience we had. We are never the type of people to complain, but our experience was more than bad. Won’t be returning."

"We decided on a last minute drive out on a beautiful evening for dinner and visited for the first time. The setting is beautiful and there was a good vibe on the terraces. We seated on the lower terrace to be near to the river. A friendly waitress said she’d be back to take drinks orders and bring a menu. After waiting 15 minutes she returned with an apology saying they were busy … only because the next table was being served did we prompt the need for Henie’s. We placed our drinks order. We waited and waited in the hope of placing a food order and eventually had to draw the attention of another male staff member .. he didn’t have his note pad.. was going to fetch it but said he’d remember the order and would get it in for us. We enjoyed the setting and there was a lot of activity on the water making it an enjoyable experience. However … after 40 minutes of waiting we were concerned our order had been forgotten. The upper terraces seemed to be receiving their food more quickly and we were concerned we had been forgotten. On 2 further occasions we asked staff if the food was on its way who apologised saying it would arrive ‘soon’. In the end we had waited an hour and the food finally arrived. We were very hungry by this point. Again the staff apologised. It was such a shame the delay tarnished the evening as the setting is beautiful. It would have been nice to have had our expectations managed from the outset but this didn’t happen. There was no checking-in with us at any point … we had to keep asking … menu, drink order, food order and looking for staff. Even during and after the meal we weren’t asked if we wanted to order another drink or desert. Such a shame as the friendliness of staff is there but the ‘customer service’ approach needs attention … maybe it is because we sat on the lower terrace?"
