The only place in Stroud desperate enough and ugly enough to agree to host Katie Hopkins when every other venue had refused to do so. Embarrassing. Avoid. Rooms: 1 Service: 1 Location: 1

Beautiful pub in the countryside. Nice atmosphere for a pint or two on a hot day. Ignore all the fake reviews from the far left, most of them have never stepped foot in the place. Visit it and you won't be disappointed Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5

I stayed in the Star with my mum doing the Cotswolds way and very stupidly left my headphones in the bed!! Joanna the cleaner was a saint and found them for me and posted them to me!! What an angel!! Omg the owner likes to involve himself in political activities unfortunately has an admiration for right wing politics and knows racist speakers. Avoid this cesspit like the plague as you might have the misfortune of running into the owner and be the wrong tone or running into staged presnetations from society’s more intolerant types. Went for a quick glass and saw there was a load of people in there. Thought it might be a band nope. Katie Hopkins was the show. I was stunned. Asked the landlord about it, but he pretended not to know who she was, and he also pretended not to be the landlord. Then loads of protesters turned up, it was all very jolly, lots of dancing and drumming. Sadly after the landlord shouted that he hoped he was indeed racist at a protester the police got involved and everyone had to stop the live music and move on. So, rubbish pub, great locals.

This pub has so much potential. It is a shame that under the current stewardship the pub has had its soul stripped from it, there is now no atmosphere, no pub garden (just benches in a car park). The kitchen has been under renovation for at least the last 5 years+ and they sell frozen pizza with your expensive out of date beer. Unlike many if the stroud pubs it feels like it has had its community stripped from it and panders to and hosts far right and rascist hate speech under the guise of 'comedy '.
