The Sun Inn - Menú

After frequenting sun inn for around 12 years, am utterly disappointed tonight. Pub grub at a la carte prices. Menu disappointing food even more so. What's happened? Was always 5 star for me, however things have taken a turn for the worst sadly

excellent appetizers of deep roast brie and queen scallops with garlic and gruyere followed by fishing and chips (not going for the big, if they are extremely hungry) with perfectly cooked fish and good homemade chips. the atmosphere was relaxed and the service good -high recomend

I recently enjoyed a fantastic lunch at this restaurant. I ordered the wagyu burger and my boyfriend had the pork belly, both dishes were delicious. The staff was friendly and the ambiance was lovely. This wasn't my first visit and I have never encountered any problems here; even my dog enjoys coming along. It's the perfect place to unwind after a muddy walk in Vogri Park.

Went for their Christmas party night and it was a disaster from start to finish. The meal was meant to be a set menu and out of the three courses I had chosen I only got one, and it was tasteless and cold and the bar ran out of lemonade halfway through the night. When I got in touch to discuss the issues I had they said they would get back to me but didn't bother. Terrible customer service.

This establishment, I’m sure was good many moons ago, it’s tired, broken and in need of a good clean The beds are clean and comfortable, but the bells and whistles don’t work, the staff who clean the rooms must surely see if things are broken !!!! It’s not my job as a guest to point out your faults , come on guys wake up ! The breakfast was nice , the staff are lovely, but this place needs a good housekeeper

We went at 10.15 am and they had no scones left, mum asked for sugar and sweetners for her coffee, she was brought one packet of sweetner. Because there were no scones my aunt asked for toast it was burnt. Friends asked for cake because there were no scones, they were told there was only one cake left because the rest were stale, they decided to share the cake but they couldn't eat it because it was stale too. Also the waitrose was grumpy. Very disappointing.

here's what was great. butternut squash suppe. tasty many garnel crispy on sandwich service of large darkhaired coworkers, big sweat helpful decor environs2 courses for £10 menu available not so good. rest of the workers who were quite miserable lifeless lukewarm greeting at the arrival at the demand for sugar with coffee was said: “You can have sweeteners but not sugar” open sandwiches served in brot, the so thick it was hard to get throughd sandwiches with quite inspiring dry toppings would not yet be visited with no rushing back, but it was ok for one.

The food here is absolutely phenomenal. The staff were so accommodating for example I asked if my coconut monkfish curry could be made with more spice, and it came out with the most beautiful kick to it. The food was genuinely 5*. At first we thought the service was a little slow but as soon as we even tasted our starters we all agreed it surpassed expectations and was well worth the wait. The steaks were melt in the mouth, cooked to perfection, and the tomato kids pasta was stunning. My 4yo had wanted to meet the chef to say thanks for her pasta and he happily came out..nothing was too much trouble. Fine dining quality with a homely atmosphere.

The Sun Inn has been our go-to restaurant in the Edinburgh area for over 12 years. The food has always been exceptional, but unfortunately, our recent visit was a disappointment. There have been significant changes to the menu, and not for the better. While the soup was good, the crispy cauliflower was a disaster. The steak pie was also underwhelming. Despite no issues with the staff, our bill was high for just four alcoholic drinks, three starters, and three mains. Overall, it was a complete disaster and based on recent reviews, it seems like there are ongoing issues. It's a shame to write this review as my partner and daughter have always loved The Sun Inn.
