"Not local to this area, I chose this restaurant from the consistently excellent Tripadvisor reviews, and we were not disappointed. For starters we had the salt pepper squid, which was tasty and cooked just right. For our main courses we had Lamb Bunny Chow and Cyder battered fish chips. The fish was haddock, my preference, which was moist and very nicely cooked in a light crispy batter which wasn’t greasy. The accompanying side dish of onion straws was lightly seasoned and very nicely cooked, which made them very tasty. The Lamb Bunny Chow was very tasty, and such a large portion, that we took the unfinished remains home with us. The vanilla crème brulee was delicious and had the light crispy top that a brulee should have. The service was very good, from friendly and helpful staff. We had a table for two with two funky comfortable wing backed chairs. It was quiz night, but we had considerately been placed in an area separate to the main quiz area, so that we were not overpowered by the event. However, we did have a go at answering the questions ourselves, which was fun. The overall décor is a rustic style, with comfortable dining chairs which I appreciate. We will definitely visit again when next in the area."

"Overpriced. Had this place saved for a while and visited recently whilst walking the dog in the area. Flat white was over £4, no sign of what the beans were they were using, but wasn’t even that nice. Worth noting most roasters or craft cafes are charging between £3.40-3.70 for good quality coffee. My full English although tasty again felt overpriced at £15, and again, no mention of the produce being local or sustainable or anything that would support such a price. Partner had porridge and a banana and that was £6. Say what you like, we’re in our thirties and spent the last 10 years in North London, yet both of us left here feeling marginally ripped off. Won’t go again."

"What a magical place to dine, drink with family!!!!Absolutely worth every penny and more! "This charming, cozy pub offers an excellent pint of Guinness and a solid wine selection. The standout feature is the wood-fired pizzas, which are definitely worth a visit. I also had the pleasure of trying chips topped with melted blue cheese and onion for the first time, and I will certainly be having them again! It's an ideal spot for a leisurely Sunday afternoon, and I highly recommend it. Food: 5 Service: 5"

"The pub is renowned for its amazing selection of ales ciders. Usually about 10 12 draft ales. Also it is the home of Godalming Beer Works, who brew some very good ales. Try First Light, it is so well balanced. The food is also fantastic! Their large selection oif burgers has something for everyone (I had the Mexican, with home made chilli, mashed avocado, sour cream jalapenos YUM! . I should also mention that all burgers come with dressed salad, coleslaw, red cabbage slaw and their amazing triple cooked chips. These chips are very crunchy on the outside and light fluffy on the insides. Having eaten at the Hand Flowers in Marlow, I can honestly say that the triple cooked chips served at The Star are definitely superior to those of Tom Kerridge's award winning chips which were soggy."
