"We went to this restaurant after receiving birthday vouchers. The location and views overlooking the river were excellent. The menu was a bit confusing as it was unclear what was a starter or main course, so we needed clarification. I ordered the wild mushrooms for a starter, which were just okay with an unusual flavor. My husband, who is Scottish, ordered the Haggis but found it disappointing. His cod main dish was good, but my Barnsley chop was mostly fat and bone with some raw lamb. I prefer my lamb cooked pink but was not asked about my preference. We also ordered potatoes as a side, but they had a preserved taste and were a bit stale. This restaurant may not be suitable for the average diner."

Bit **** that you can’t take customers at 915 when your open till 10. Restaurant not even full on a Friday night and your turning away guests. Based on service you don’t really deserve your Michelin guide status.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. There were no vegetarian options available for the main course, and the small plate I ordered arrived lukewarm. The staff seemed miserable and unhelpful.

Pleasant restaurant with views across the river tyne and indoor or outdoor seating. Visited on Sunday so only have experience of Sunday lunch menu. Mains were Beef or pork or lamb and a veggie choice and all with usual Sunday lunch yorkshire pudd and vegetables. Food was enjoyable with decent sized portions. Well worth a visit. Ver carta

Fabulous experience from the start. Friendly staff, fabulous location under the iconic Tyne Bridge, outside seating for a pre dinner drink by the river. Starters more a sharing plate pigs tail unusual but tasty. Rib of beef main at £85 for 3 to share was great value and absolutely excellent. Margaret River wine v good too. Highly recommended

Excellent location. Efficient staff. Shame about the Sunday lunch which was awful. I asked for the standard plate but without meat. I received a heap of very large, uncut, root vegetables, covered in kale, sitting in a pool of cool brown liquid. The Yorkshire pudding and very large roast potato were ok. Maybe I was unfortunate. I didn’t complain because the meal was a treat from our friends.

Ambience was great it was busy but didn’t feel over crowded waiters were friendly discreet and efficient. We were disappointed to be seated in a chilly section of the restaurant, despite the rest of the empty space being warm and more welcoming. Last orders were made at 10:50pm, prompting us to buy more drinks, only to be informed that we had to leave by 11:00pm. Feeling rushed, we decided to wrap up our meal by 11:25pm. This was an unusual experience for a usually hospitable city, possibly due to the restaurant's primary focus on the food rather than the overall dining experience.

Booked a family lunch for six for 3.15. Trakol serve Sunday lunch until 5pm. We ordered oyster for Three and tomato and crab on toast. Only four oyster and no crab. No alternative was offered. We were told 3 pm was a late booking but they take reservations until five so that was a weak excuse. The orders taken for both the bear and the wine were incorrect the knife was dirty smeared with something the roast beef which five of us orderef was cold as were the vegetables and all swimming in cold gravy on a cold plate. No vanilla ice cream on a plus rhubarb sponge with custard was very good.

"The place seems unprofessionally run. The staff all look like they could do with a bath. No overalls are worn and their clothes are all of the type that many would wear to lounge around the house in . Several have longer hair and beards but don’t wear any kitchen p.p.e. The decor is shabby and I wondered what kind of hygiene rating they would have. Although not busy, the staff seemed to be disorganised, falling over eachother and lacking in training. They seemed to handle the food in an inexperienced, clumsy fashion. The only tool I saw being used was a pizza peel for taking the pizza in and out of the oven. On all other occasions the food was handled. I didn’t notice any hand washing or alcohol gel in evidence. The menu is quite limited and uninspiring. 2 of the 6 pizza choices include chicken which Italians would argue is definite no no! All pizzas are reheated to order which eliminates the possibility of customisation. I don’t believe the restaurant would stand out in many European countries, as pizza in general is of a much higher standard than that in the UK. In spite of the above, The basic pizza is excellent in taste (even though it is all re-heated). And for this reason it is worth a visit. Compared to other uk pizza restaurants which are typically serving absolute garbage, the food is way out in front. If you can tolerate the negatives I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the pizza. However with a bit of effort, this place could be transformed into something truly amazing."
