"We visited today for lunch and we were really disappointed. The garlic bread starter was not toasted/cooked at all and just tasted doughy and dry, the soup had no flavour. The roast dinner was disappointing, the chicken was pink, the roast potatoes were undercooked and...hard and the gravy was very thin. I had fish and chips which was ok but it was nothing like we’d had before when eating here. I wonder whether they have changed chef or food supplier in the last few months as the quality has gone way down. I can understand a reduced menu but when the food on that is poor, I’m not sure what the point is. What bothered me most of all though was the fact they had taken a booking for 18 people for a baby shower which goes against all guidelines and was loud and disturbing for everyone else in restaurant. I can’t understand how they thought that was acceptable. While I am all for supporting local, I cannot see us returning again. The wait staff were really nice and helpful at least."

"Terrible experience here very unfriendly and unprofessional manager/owner. If you have kids under 16 you’re segregated (lunchtime) into a shoddy back room with no atmosphere. When we were overheard discussing this he literally chucked us out the pub!! I know if I’d read this I’d think they must have behaved awfully, but we are a normal family who were only discussing this situation. Never experienced this type of aggression before and never been segregated in a pub with a 12 and 14 year old the whole pub was for eating not just this back room. Landed up at the Queen Victoria and had a delicious lunch and they couldn’t have been more welcoming. So from our experience if you have kids avoid this pub at all costs, my children didn’t need to experience his rude and quite frankly nasty manner he should really advertise this pub as adults only if that’s what he clearly wants."

"We decided to take our children out for lunch because the weather was nice. We chose to dine at The Lodge because they have a very child-friendly outdoor area. It was busy when we arrived, but we didn't mind the wait for our food as the children were having a great time. We all enjoyed our meals - lasagne, Lodge burger, and three children's meals - the food was delicious. There was a young girl with mousey brown hair who was clearing tables and serving our food. She was very helpful and polite. We were happy with the service and food quality and will definitely be returning. Kudos to the entire staff for a job well done."

"So staff were pretty grumpy, none of them look happy you were there. The worst part about all of it, is that they were in such a rush. The waiter came up to us twice trying to take away the popadoms that we wanted to keep throughout the meal to have with out curries. As it’s the 10pm rule, everything shuts at 10. This means the last person to leave can be/should be 09.59pm. At 9.45pm the man came over saying you need to pay and go, literally took all of our parents considering I could eat more, there was still food left to it. We was near enough pushed out of the restaurant and they made us seem like we were holding them up, therefore next time if you want to push us out at 9.45 put your closing time at 9.45. Because of this, I’d go to the other Indian closer and maybe you won’t get pushed out, with happy employees :"
