"I had never been to a Nando 's before so this is my first visit review. I was surprised how busy it was, so I guessed that it must be popular, I had to wait 15 minutes for a table to become available, that wasn 't too bad as we grabbed a drink and sat outside. It is a sizable restaurant and there are quite a lot of staff, we were called when our table for 5 adults became available. Then this is when it lost 1 star, no explanation as how to order, luckily we had one of my nieces with us and she had been to a different Nando 's many times before. So, everything is done on your mobile phone, scan a barcode on the table and create an account to be able to proceed, if my niece hadn 't been with us we wouldn 't have had a clue as to how you place and pay for your order, maybe I am just getting old and I am out of touch with the new protocol 's. After having a guided tour of what was entailed we placed our orders and the food and drinks started to arrive, this was staggered and we all started eating at different times, the food was delicious and cooked perfectly. I don 't like the fact that you have to create an account and provide your email address just to order food, this I fear will lead to a barrage of emails from partner companies etc. What happened to the good old waitress/waiter service? they brought the food and drinks to the table, so why can 't they just come to the table and take the order? Some of you may read this and say this guy is out of touch maybe I am and I will take that comment on the chin, however, what about the older generation that still don 't have mobile phones? As I said, the food was delicious but I don 't care much for the faffing about the technical way of ordering food."

"It's difficult to beat The Swan for setting in amongst the vines of Chapel Down in a very picturesque part of the Kent countryside. The room has a great vibe trendy but not overly so, great background music. The food is very good not a great selection for Sunday lunch 3 courses for £25.50) but good enough. Starters were tiny , mains very good, puddings ok. Decent wine line with some great whites from Chapel Down to choose from. What let it down for us was the service. I arrived 5 mins before our booking time to check to see if we could be seated a slightly grumpy youthful waitress ignored me twice until I asked if we could be seated. Once seated we were asked if we wanted water for the table. We did. The waitress disappeared and re appeared about 10 minutes later with the water and took off again before we could order drinks. More waiting until I waved over another waitress and asked if we could order drinks. Once ordered, another 10 minutes or so for the drinks to be brought and again the waitress disappeared so when we were ready to order food there was much looking for and finally beckoning someone to come and take the food order. We had booked a late sitting for lunch 2pm and the room was less than half full, so it wasn't as if they were run off their feet. A good 15 minute wait for the food to arrive no problems with that; food has to be assembled in the kitchen. A 12.5% service charge was added to our bill in our case, about £15.00 which seemed excessive for the lack of speed and care. We will be back to The Swan and hopefully the service will have improved ."

"well, after booking for two birthdays to celebrate we all was very disappointed, booked for 6 plus high chair and when arrived at 1800 we were shown a table not made up for service and was told that there was a quiz night this quiz night really took over the night and we thought that after booking the table we should have been warned, then came the service by a strange man who wasn't at all happy and the food came up at 1900hrs it was very poor, two lamb meals were raw, not cooked at all, we have eaten in some very well know establishments and do frequently so know lamb comes up raw medium but this was very **** and not even shown the cooker, thus all the lamb was left and we could see the kitchen and gareth noticed the plates go back with all the meat on them but did not come out to find out why or even mention anything gareth should perhaps concentrate on his diners rather than the nibbles for the quiz night. rest of food was ok but nothing to rave about, we all felt very disappointed and let down after travelling so far and expecting gareth cox at the miller to wow us with something but the whole experience was very below par. shall we go back never, and thats the opinion of all of us, over priced, very poor quality of staff and food just not good enough, the mulberry tree in maidstone knocked this place for 6 and perhaps the honest miller should take tips for them."
