"I had been in this pub for a while, but my family and I were on the way from cheltenham to Westonbirt at 17 o'clock and called for an early dinner. all four of us said that the meal was faultless, we enjoyed all three courses and cannot praise this place enough. such a great atmosphere, cordial greeting from the incredibly fabulous staff and a seat directly at the log tariff. what more can they demand. it is easy to find, beautiful location and has plenty of parking right next to the pub. in summer there is a large garden back. in februar this is the place to eat when they go to visit the colesbourne snowdrop gardens that are right in front of the house and not to miss. the menu at the colesbourne inn is huge and offers for everyone something wonderful, regardless of their taste or nutrition to choose. my calamari ‘Bar Bite’ size starter was superb and definitiw a greater part than we expected. the other appetizers, a black bell and black pudding with fried egg was superb as well as the bread selection we also ordered. mostly fish Pie....only full of a lot of different fish and whistle fish. my son had the steak and ale pier he claimed he was the best he had eaten in a very long time. two of us had the nut roast dinner.... I want my Christmas dinner to be as good as that. desserts of fruit crumbs and custard finished the meal with the obligatory glass or two of fizz. for each device in these times to offer this incredible selection of oriented, which is an absolute credit for them by the most kind of employees ever and the very high standards they did. highly recommended at any level possible. well made the colesbourne inn"

"When we moved from central London to our sleepy Cotswold village, we feared what would happen to our takeaway nights especially without the presence of delivery services like Deliveroo and Just Eat. However a little bit of research online led us directly to Loco Jos. Oh. My Goodness. You can't beat their absolutely delicious pizzas, which they deliver directly to our door. Our one and only complaint is that they're not open every day of the week we begrudgingly have to order mediocre pizza from other restaurants when the cravings strike between Monday Thursday!"

"The recent refurbishment has been a success resulting in beautiful surroundings, the food is excellent and yet quite expensive and the staff are lovely, however, the management have now lost control totally in relation to a group of young males who display a constant disdain towards basic manners, norms, values and acceptable behaviour. In just two nights recently, I witnessed members of the aforementioned group drinking in the beer garden without shirts on, upsetting fellow customers within the bar with extremely loud antisocial behaviour including the regular use of offensive language, rudeness towards members of staff and finally directed verbal crude abuse towards myself whilst I was ordering at the bar. I have appealed to the management on different occasions for control measures to be implemented in relation to this group, but they are clearly Ill equipped and/or far too intimidated to offer any support. It is with regret that myself, my partner and a number of close friends will now be taking our loyalty (and money) to alternative establishments. We wish the Eliot Arms good luck for the future with their ‘chosen’ clientele!"

"We were able to secure a table for four at this restaurant on a Saturday night at short notice, which made us a little anxious. However, when we arrived around 7pm, the parking lot was empty, causing us to wonder if we had made a mistake. To our pleasant surprise, we were warmly welcomed and the service and food were excellent. We had brought along our two pampered dogs, who were allowed in the bar area and even received special attention from the owner. It was puzzling to us why the restaurant wasn't busier, as we are locals and this was our first visit. However, we are confident that this will become a regular spot for us. Overall, it was a great place for a lovely evening."

"We’d invited friends, who’d never been to this restaurant (or theatre), to join us for a meal before the performance. We arrived early for our reservation, which was at 5.45pm. We ordered ‘nibbles’ instead of starters and even these took a long time to come. However, our main courses didn’t arrive until nearly 7.10pm! Every time we chased them up (from 6.30 onwards) we were told “they’re just coming”. No explanation was ever given for the delay, and the bill was just put on the table very shortly after the food. The food itself was good, but in order to get into the theatre on time we really had to bolt it down, and we couldn’t even finish, let alone have a dessert or coffee. Horribly rushed and horribly embarrassing to have invited friends to this shambles. We were not alone other tables were also waiting and rushing. Unacceptable for a restaurant which offers a pre theatre meal."

"We visited this restaurant on our first night in the Cotswolds, and honestly, it was not our first choice. However, it turned out to be excellent! We couldn't stop talking about it during our entire trip. The wait staff were so helpful, and the menu was extensive. Everything we tried, from the curry to the loaded fries, was excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant. Our whole family would definitely make it our first stop in this town with limited restaurant choices. I regret not taking a photo, but the meal was great! The dessert was also amazing! Bravo, 5+ stars!"

"What better way to be introduced to UK hospitality. Trouble House was brilliant. Jackie, our host went out of her way to ensure our stay was perfect. It is a fabulous place to explore the beauty of the Cotswolds as well as experience some of the incredible history of the area. Regrettably, I was not feeling 100% so did not have an opportunity to experience the breakfast and dining options. My son however was certainly in the mood to appreciate the menu options that were available and could not fault the hospitality provided. Thank you so much Jackie for your outstanding consideration while I was not feeling 100%. The breakfasts were out of this world as was dinner (according to my son who was travelling with me). Cannot recommend Trouble House more highly and would without question return. Thanks again Jackie."

"Gorgeous immaculately clean and attractively decorated pub with a pretty walled garden in the middle of a lovely village off the beaten track but just over half hour from centre of Bristol. We were looking for somewhere to have lunch after a circular walk taking...in the bluebell woods and the furthest stretches of Westonbirt. Happily they were open on Bank Holiday Monday and we really enjoyed our assorted burgers and falafels and perfectly cooked trout fillet on nicoise salad. Mandy and Becky and the team are putting heart soul into this place and it felt very welcoming. Some of the party got delayed due to the whacky races and the chef kept the food warm for them. Thanks again!"

"We received a warm welcome from the friendly staff when we arrived at the restaurant. They effortlessly accommodated our group of five and made us feel at home on a busy day. We ordered tea and scones, which were served with fresh clotted cream and jam, and were absolutely delicious. The chocolate milkshakes were also top-notch. We left the restaurant as happy customers, especially considering the reasonable pricing compared to other places we had looked at. The cafe, though just off the Main Street, offered a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. If we ever return, we would definitely revisit this establishment due to the fantastic service and experience we had. Five stars from us - thank you!"

"We have dined at this restaurant multiple times over the years hoping for improvement, but we will not be returning. I am baffled by the praise that Malt Anchor receives. The fish portions are small and the batter is average at best. Even when opting for a pricier loin option, the quality is still lacking and comes at a steep price. The chips are below par and the overall experience is disappointing. It seems that those leaving positive reviews may not have a strong understanding of what truly good fish and chips should be. I recommend trying establishments like Magpie in Yorkshire, Seafarers in Lytham, Squires in Devon, or many others I have tried over the years for a taste of proper fish and chips. Don't be swayed by the popular opinion, consider other options for a better dining experience."

"I have stayed in many hotels over the years, but this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. To get to our room, we had to walk around the back of the pub near the kitchen and step over a dirty kitchen water channel. The room was very small and lacked basic amenities like a bin. Despite these issues, we decided to eat at the pub downstairs (although we found the food to be overpriced for tiny portions). However, the problems escalated when we realized that the walls and floors did not block out noise well, and we could hear loud music from the pub all night. Even after the pub closed, the music continued to get louder. Around midnight, we asked the staff to lower the volume, only to find them having a party with loud music and joints. They briefly turned the music off, but it soon started again. In the middle of the night, water started pouring through the fire alarm directly onto our bed. It turned out to be dirty shower water from a staff room above. After complaining to a staff member (who appeared to be heavily intoxicated), we were moved to a spare room that was also dirty and covered in hair and dirt. We considered leaving, but decided to stay the night despite the discomfort. The next morning, we cancelled our reservation for the following night and requested a refund, which we received without any additional compensation. Overall, it was a terrible hotel experience that I will never forget."

"The coffee shop is seriously overpriced for quality provided, though fine if you're willing to pay that much when you could get a better standard elsewhere. What really puts me off is that the staff are incredibly rude to the vast majority of their customers at both the coffee shop and the post office. It is not a pleasant atmosphere to bring children into or to be around."

"Having followed the new landlords from their previos pub; we were not dissappointed and found the same qualities in both front of house nad back of house that we had come to expect from them. The prices are not cheap for pub grub , but then Roger does not serve you pub grub. Emmie in front of house was attentive and spent time talking to her customers creating a relaxed atmosphere. "We called in for lunch at 12.10pm but could not gain access. The sandwich boards etc. were outside advertising lunch was available but all the doors were locked and we could not get in so we returned to our car and phoned them only to be greeted by a message saying no-one was available. I understand that in the best run of businesses emergencies warranting closure can occur but even a hastily written note pinned to the door to let the clientele know would have been better than nothing. We waited for a while in the car park and phoned again but on getting the same response we moved on to lunch elsewhere."

"the swan is a quintessential country pub/hotel in a picture postcard village. the interior is stunning with original features, complemented by modern art work and fittings. the food is the star of the show with beautifully presented incredibly tasteful house produced vegetables, eggs and meat from their local farm in the village. a 3-course and a 2-course menu with a prosecco and local real ale at the arrival and house cocktail during the meal with coffee for a very reasonable £70. a real pleasure and a perfect small garden for it. bravo to the cook and the attentive, really friendly staff that made our visit so unforgettable!"

"I visited this restaurant over the weekend and was craving sticky toffee pudding, but was informed that the kitchen was closed. A young girl with dark hair and glasses, around 4’8 in height, assured me it was okay to place an order. When we received our sticky toffee puddings, all I can say is that they were very tasty. The staff members were incredibly welcoming. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant next year."

"Gave order. While waiting a man went to complain about the poultry amount of cream with his cream tea. Staff said they’ve never had a complaint about it before. The owner offered more cream which he accepted. When he was back at his table the staff started rolling their eyes , laughing and one of them held their little finger up and made a gesture with it. In the meantime we were still waiting for our coffee and scone and canned drink. I went to staff and said I wanted a refund as I was still waiting. She looked at receipt and said you’ve only been waiting 9 minutes! My order was only one coffee, one scone and a canned drink. This was hardly a big cooking job. They had a further complaint as I was leaving another customer wanted to know why he hadn’t had his order."

"Lovely ambience,Excellent food and service 10/10 So good we ate both nights here while we were in our hotel at chipping Camden. Before we had even eaten or seen our food on the Monday evening ,we had booked a table for the next evening ….it is a beautiful place ,a real gem . The menu isn’t huge but certainly plenty of choice and portions are good. The staff are attentive and also not pestering you all the while . There is outside dining as well . I think this place should be extended ,as you are best to book as so popular.we fell lucky the first night . There are about 8seating areas indoors ,so very popular . Next time we will just go here to eat as it’s just so clean and lovely ,the food I’ve never had such a fantastic mousakka as I did here …and we’ve been to Greece 17 times .This was just gorgeous. I also like how the chefs are cooking and you can see into the kitchen ..BUT this means you know they are clean and good as they are not afraid for customers to see them preparing . Please give this place a try it really is a gem"
