"my friend and I went to the theater and thought so the question would be fast if it was a chain. my friend is coeliac and so she asked about the gluten-free menu. an ordner was opened on the corresponding side and she. ordered the fruit de mer fusilli pasta dish. I ordered pizza and two drinks. the front of the housekeeper murmured and did not seem confident if he was new, I don't know. when he brought the glasses for our drinks, we were both together to see that he had wrapped his hand around the top of the glasses. also pre covid we would not have found it acceptable! we commented on it and drank from the only glass he had not touched. When that came, we wanted to sneak in when my friend noticed a hair on her pasta. she only got it to find it was not on here pasta, but a long hair was wrapped around the spiral of pasta. we called the waiter and she showed him. he apologized and took the court away. then he came by and said that the manager would come to see us. the manager I suspect was the manager for this evening, as what followed was laughing. she said: “I understand that there was a problem with her meal, what was with her?” my friend explained and the manager said: “Oh, right, we will take it off from her bill until now ineffective. then she asked if she wanted to make a replacement, and my friend explained that she had been put off by the hairs. I mentioned how the waiter kept the glasses and she said she had a word with him. my friend asked if there were still gluten-free that they could make fast. Answer “I’m sorry to get you a glass instead.” when they left, we stayed in absolute unbelief. the manager returned a few minutes later to offer the king garnelen in garlic butter. my friend asked if it would be done quickly, to which the manager replied it would be. After 10 minutes I wait to hunt the court that, as I was talking about the manager, turned up. all in all, I would put all the problems on the lack of education. the personal seemed uninterested and more enthusiastic to chat with each other, to serve as customers. it needs a large restaurant manager who hires and trains the personal based table service, hygiene and problem solution. of course we will not be back."

"We used to love to come here. We visit every year for my Mum's birthday. It still has nice room and garden to sit in. But the menu, coffee, and quality of service has diminished which is a shame. I would still say its a nice place to visit but it used to be lovely on the pricey side but a nice treat. Now, it's expensive and OK but if I were going again, I would probably have lunch in Stamford instead, or bring a picnic. In the Orangery, you used to get a lovely cafetiere of coffee, now it's depressingly out of a machine prices on par with a motorway services Starbucks. The staff were struggling with how busy the place was. It was the day of Battle of the Proms so they may have had more visitors than normal. We waited for a table which was fine. However once sat we found the menu has been cut down. We were too late for brunch, to early for afternoon tea. Lunch was pork belly hot sandwich, or lamb meatballs or cod loin. All over twelve pounds in price. I think the quality of food is still good but not the choice. We went for chips....as didn't fancy pork belly, lamb or cod. They were ok but delivered in silver buckets which held about 10 chips. No bowl or plate with them either. The lad brought the 3 bucket miniatures out with them clutched to his chest...I guess the kitchen had no trays. The girl on the till went to replace scones, which were out of a packet (I thought they may have been homemade....alas not). She dropped lid covering cakes and replaced it after it had been on the floor. I'm not fussy but....yeah....not what I would expect really. The staff looked sad and stressed. So ....go to Orangery if you are gasping for a drink on your visit to Burghley. You may have to book table beforehand, expect it to cost you, be busy, staff grumpy and it will be like most places just ok....not as special as it once was."

"This used to be my favourite Indian restaurant in Stamford, up until I ordered a takeaway last Friday. I am vegetarian and have been for many years, so I order on the phone and not via just eat to reiterate my dish is to be...just sauce with no meat. I ordered a tikka masala sauce and ate about 1/4 of it. The next day I went to have my leftovers and noticed pieces of chicken in the dish!! I felt sick and then realised had probably eaten small bits of chicken the night before. Ew. I threw away the dish and the accompanying dishes because who would eat dry naan and rice? I called them about this disgusting issue and they proceeded to imply I was lying, as they do not prepare the meat with the sauces. When I responded with the fact I have photos of it, they changed their tone and offered me £10 off my next meal there, I said this wasn't acceptable as I cant trust their food preparation practices anymore and I said I wanted a refund instead. They accepted and I was told I had to come into the restaurant to get this refund, despite the fact I originally paid over the phone but when I got to the restaurant they tried to refund me only for the sauce, which does not cost must but I explained that I couldn't eat any of the meal and I was out of pocket much more than just the sauce. They finally offered a refund of no more than £10 and tried to give cash until I refused and then eventually I was given the refund on my card. The man was quite rude the whole time I was there. Their excuse was the chef had got the order mixed up and this was the reason for the chicken pieces, its very obvious the dish was made with chicken and just plucked out before sending it to me. I am highly allergic to prawns and this would be a different story if it was not chicken being lazily served!!! If it was a “kitchen mix up” then I would have had whole bits of chicken in the dish and this would have been a genuine mistake and could have been rectified. Watch out, bad food preparation and lazy approach to dietary requirements and allergies."
