"An absolutely amazing venue. I had my baby shower here recently and the hosting was exceptional! Nothing was too much, they decorated, provided amazing catering (the food was incredible! , they just made the whole experience amazing. They unexpectedly took ALL the pressure off and handled everything. Super friendly and kind, I felt like I 'd known them for ages despite it being my first time meeting them all. I cannot say enough about this amazing place and the amazing staff. The beer garden is beautiful, the decor is stunning... the atmosphere is gorgeous, it 's ideal for any and every occasion from an afternoon beer in the sun to a Sunday roast by the cosy fire (or a special occasion . What a hidden gem. Will definitely be regulars from now on, and everyone who came to my shower (they aren 't local have asked we come back after the baby is born. There wasn 't a thing that we weren 't all impressed with, you must pop in and try the food, heavenly! (They provided us vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and alcohol free things, and there 's plenty of choice! Very budget friendly . Really easy going, any questions just drop them a message! Vegetarian options: Amazing. Home made, so good that the meat eaters ended up eating the veggie and vegan options! There was also plenty of options available and not just pasta or pizza like a lot of places Dietary restrictions: Gluten intolerance catered for at the drop of a hst, again, no issue here and wasn 't limited in what they could eat Parking: Parking is easy, large area clearly sign posted, there is a stony car park at the back and a large field area attached to it. There were well over 20 vehicles when we were there and still plenty of room Kid-friendliness: Cinema room and popcorn offered for our children whilst we had a private function however, the kids were more than happy playing in the magic garden whilst being waited on by the staff Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free parking lot"

"Some time ago, I had attended an anniversary party in the upstairs rooms, which were very pleasant, beautiful views over the area and the food etc very good. A really super experience. (Had also attended a 'race night ' which had been great fun and well organised. So going for a lunch with friends as a party of just eight, in the main restaurant this time, I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. In particular, badly let down by the ridiculous wait time, around 1 hour from ordering to the main course being served (and that was having ordered ham eggs and chips on a menu with not a huge amount of choice anyway ! . I noted that the maximum number of people in the place at anyone time whilst we were there, was only around 20, (although there is seating for more, thank goodness that there were no other people there , so quite what was going on in the kitchen, apart from 'very slowly ', I cannot imagine. The location is nice, with a good outlook, the parking plentiful and convenient. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful, the bar staff polite, also very friendly, helpful and efficient but as to restaurant kitchen output clearly this left a huge amount to be desired. The food when it arrived was ok. The ham was nice, the 'handcut chips ' were .. fine, the egg was a little overcooked but ok. I thought that it was a good job that I had not ordered anything more complicated. Desert was good, the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream was very nice indeed, But unfortunately, after this experience, unless there is some significant change I think I will be looking to just about any other establishment first, life is just too short ...."

"This wasn’t our first visit (the previous occasion was more positive than this) but this was really quite poor. Problem after problem, service was poor and just not very welcoming. Firstly, drinks weren’t available issues with draft, but then bottles weren’t available either. So there was a very limited selection of drinks on offer and the staff weren’t proactive in advising what was available. So it was request and receive a no! Secondly, the food was poor. The starters were shocking. Really quite bad. There was a bit of redemption from some of the mains, but we elected to not proceed with anything else as it wasn’t great. We had to wait ages for drinks and foods to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty and many staff present. Frequently there were 3 staff at the back of the room standing about chatting, but they weren’t attentive to our needs. They didn’t check around the room to see if guests required additional drinks or require plates clearing. They didn’t check to see how the food was and when we complained regarding a starter they simply didn’t know how to handle it. When the draft beer came back on there was no proactive behaviour in returning to the table and letting us know so that more drinks could be ordered. Drinks were poured in wrong glasses, plates were cleared whilst people were still eating and then not cleared when they needed to be! Simply put the staff working had no idea on what table service should be perhaps they had received no training which is a major failing when the restaurant is part of a hotel. It was not welcoming. The restaurant was freezing cold. The service was really very poor and the food disappointing. They also don’t take dogs which in Aldeburgh is a bit weird. There is plenty of space and the tables are large so they would not be in the way. We won’t be returning."
