"Our lovely daughter arranged surprise afternoon tea for our wedding anniversary. We were told to arrive at Briarsfield before 1pm for a surprise. The receptionist/manager ignored us when we arrived. A waiter finally acknowledged us and took us to our table, he didn’t know what we were booked in for nor did us as it was a surprise. So we ordered off the main menu. When we’d finished our meal and questioned payment a manager appeared, she said they had been waiting for us and the afternoon tea intended for us had been prepared. There were only 5 other people in the restaurant so can’t understand the manager failing to identify us. The option she offered was we could take the prepared afternoon tea with us, cost would come out of staff tips or they could use the food the next day. We chose to take our surprise home with us for later. We received 2 small carrier bags containing some small cakes, 2 scones which were rock hard, jam was in a miniature jar not homemade jam, there were no cream, no homemade sausage rolls, no sandwiches. The food we received was an insult on top of which was a customer service error. Our experience was handled extremely badly and unprofessionally. Our daughter works really hard for little money and it upsets me her kind thoughtful gesture for us was treated like this."

Visited today for an excellent afternoon tea. Great venue, not cheap but good value. The sun shone wonderfully.

We have been the lodge o. Old Hunstanton a number of times and decided to try here too. We had a lovely dog friendly lunch with a friendly welcome. The carrot and coriander soup was lovely. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Having looked for a dog friendly hotel for our recent trip to Norfolk Briarfields was amazing, lovely warm welcome for all. Treats, poo bags and blanket for our dog. Wonderful facilities, clean comfortable room, amazing exercise area for your pet. Food was great, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely visit again. We highly recommend it.

Another fantastic stay. Beautiful room, great staff and so peaceful. Close to beaches, quiet walks and there are some lovely farm shops and a deli close by. Our evening meal was delicious as was our breakfast. The outdoor terrace was lovely in the sunshine but also in the evening sitting under the stars. This is our second visit and won’t be our last, I left feeling relaxed after our stay and would recommend if you are looking for somewhere to enjoy great food and to unwind. Ver carta

My husband and I stayed here for one night at the beginning of July for the first time for a bit of downtime and us time. We usually stay in other hotels in the area but thought we would try something different. Well we were certainly not disappointed! We had a lovely stay, the hotel is so lovely and charming and welcoming, the staff were lovely, the food was amazing and our room was clean, cute, clean and comfortable. Absolutely could not fault anything! It’s was so nice to sit outside and look out to the sea…so relaxing. We will definitely be back to stay that is for sure.

We stayed for one night at this restaurant. The rooms were luxurious and the ceiling fan was a great feature on a hot night. The courtyard rooms are perfect if you have a dog. The evening meal was excellent, as was breakfast; the chef is definitely talented. North Norfolk is quite pricey, but we will definitely return to this restaurant because the dinner, bed, and breakfast package was a good value and the food was of high quality. Even our dog got a sausage for breakfast. The only downside was that the off-road walking route to the beach was closed due to RSPB bird nesting protection, but that's understandable.

We have stayed at Briarfields many times over the years, as love the hotel, staff and cleanliness etc, but always just before Christmas. So whilst holidaying in a cottage a few minutes away in the Summer thought we would visit for dinner. As always we weren't disappointed. We both enjoyed Sweetcorn and Onion Pakoras as our starters. Followed by the most delicious Butter Chicken Thigh Curry served with a Chapatti. Ordered a side of Jasmine Rice, which it did need and thought could have been served as part of the main, rather than paying extra. For dessert we had a Sherry Trifle and Grasshopper pie, which was peppermint and dark chocolate. As always the food quality was excellent and staff ser... Ver carta

Stayed for two nights in a deluxe room with my dogs. The room was lovely and comfortable and the bathroom had a fantastic freestanding bath so felt very luxurious. Treats and a dog walk map were provided for the dogs. There is a big field next to the hotel for exercising dogs which is a great idea. You can walk to Brancaster beach easily too. This is a truly dog friendly hotel! There's also a big play area if staying with children. Breakfast each morning was excellent and plentiful. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was great. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. I have only put 4 stars because it seemed that they were short staffed in the evenings when we were eating i...

We went to Briarfields for the first time for Sunday lunch. We both chose the vegetarian option. The carrot and nut roast tasted ok, but there was a lack of vegetables. My husband had been given an adequate serving of cabbage, but the tiny amount on my plate would have easily fitted inside a desert spoon. I asked the waitress for some more cabbage, and this was brought to me. I did not feel that the meal represented value for money at £21.50 for a meatless roast £16.50 £4.00 for cauliflower cheese and £1.00 for a yorkshire pudding). In most restaurants these are included and not 'extras '. The only vegetables that were included were red cabbage and half a carrot. Desserts were ok but nothing...

"We had pre-booked a table for 6 people to have lunch at 2:15pm. We arrived on time and were shown to the table, which had only been set for 4 people which meant we had to pull a further 2 chairs up to the table, and had to request a wine list. We ordered a round of drinks for the table which took c. 15 minutes to arrive. We were waiting a considerable amount of time for a food menu. Eventually we called a waiter over to order some food and were told that the kitchen we no longer serving, despite having booked a table for lunch and not being warned of the kitchen closing time. The staff told us to be quick in ordering however took a further 10 minutes to come and take the order. The food eventually came and the waitress didn 't even put the food at the correct place, she merely put them on the table for us to distribute accordingly. When the bill eventually came, we politely requested the *optional service charge was removed from the bill as we did not feel that we had received adequate service to warrant a tip, to which the manager began shouting that it as shocking that we wanted to rightfully remove the tip. He went on to say that the kitchen staff had stayed over time to prepare our food. My question to the owner is this... if your chefs are unwilling to work over their hours, why are you offering a reservation close to closing time whilst your staff are incapable of processing the orders to the kitchens in the correct timescale and working hours. If we were told that the kitchen were closing soon, we would have cooperated with the staff to help them work to their time scales."
