"the place is elegant on its own wise, with the right care on design and space. the waiters were always nice and friendly. this is a good start in the rule. I also appreciated the short menu (long menus are usually a bad sign.) the main problem was eating; the lachs was boiled and the presentation was not pleasant (sometimes less is more) the pasta was a complete catastrophe: false recipe, false art of pasta and laid away. and above on pasta, an art salat, that is a multiple error; even if we try to ignore the fact that in Italy no one in the same plate pasta and salat, the heat of pasta partially boiled the sweet, give a bitter taste and lose texture. for the conclusion it was served in the wrong style of the taste (there is a technical reason why this dish should not be used for this type of pasta.) the desserts were tasteless, and with too much sugar it was even worse. I can see there is an effort to offer something else, and I can appreciate the inspiration for a higher level of the restaurant, but they can't afford it if they don't manage the basis. about the price; if they managed to prepare these dishes properly, the price could be correct, but with this current level of quality sounded exactly as pretentious. in this case, I am really sorry to give lower rates because I see the engagement with something good, and I want to reward it, but I cannot ignore what we have served."

First class. Would go there regularly if I didn't live 5hrs away! Not to miss.

The salmon at this restaurant was fantastic. The service was exceptional and truly memorable. However, the sticky toffee pudding was a bit dry and lacking in moisture.

Lovely wee family run place with a really friendly atmosphere. Food was superb and the lassie that looked after us was a sweetheart. Very well priced. Will definately be going back. Ver carta

We had a very lovely meal at this family owned restaurant. The food was delicious, creative and beautiful to look at. The service was attentive and helpful. Highly recommend this restaurant!

The patrons at Bydand had a good experience, but it seemed like they were expecting exceptional rather than just good – everything felt slightly off. However, the staff were friendly and this is considered the top restaurant in Thurso.

Excellent food and service. Make this your restaurant of choice for the North East part of the NC500! The food looks exactly like the photos on the website, where each option is shown. Keep some space for dessert; the cheesecake was one of the best I've had! Ver carta

The menu at this restaurant is affordable yet offers excellent quality food. The sea bass is perfectly cooked and the chicken ballotine is very tasty. The Californian Zinfandel wine pairs well with the dishes on offer. The service and hospitality are also very good.

First time back in Thurso for 16 years so was interested in trying out this restaurant which had replaced what was formerly the Bistro. Although a bit pricier than what I was used to paying for meals in Caithness, I was not disappointed. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Despite the menu being fixed there was a decent choice within each course. The slow cooked beef was fantastic and the crėme brûlė was one of the tastiest I have eaten. The decor was pleasing and the crockery was also attractive. Our hostess was very friendly, welcoming and super efficient. Would recommend this restaurant if you are looking to treat yourself to a good meal out.

"This is the second time I have bought a takeaway from this restaurant in 3 years. 3 years ago I swore blind that I would never go back as the curry I had 3 years ago was bland and the chicken tough and stringy. Decided to give them one more go this evening (three years later and went for a vindaloo with Pilau rice. The Pilau rice was half decent but the vindaloo bordered on inedible the chicken was stringy and chewy and the sauce was pretty much more akin to a Rogan Josh. The menu described the vindaloo as very hot but, in reality, it was mild at best ....... very disappointed..... my main concern was the chicken, what on earth are they doing with it to make it so tough and stringy? I can appreciate that possibly the majority of reviews on here are from people who have dined in and were possibly under the influence of alcohol (which would explain the positive reviews I would literally eat deep fried road kill after a night on the town and think it was the best culinary experience of my life but, trust me folks, get a takeaway at 5pm in the evening (perfectly sober and I guarantee you that you will throw most of your spice tandoori curry into the bin. It 's edible when you 're pished and you wake up the next day thinking best curry ever try doing it sober, I can assure you that it 's a different experience; great place for drunk people to eat substandard food but don 't expect anything special if you are sober. These people are serving up **** to drunk people."
